15.01.2022 We love being part of the family at Skallywags Preschool Singleton. The girls are so passionate and driven to provide the best quality of care for each child. Here at Treehouse Speech Pathology, we make sure that there is regular communication between the parent, childhood educators and ourselves, so that we are all aware of what goals and strategies are worked on for each child during their therapy sessions :)

11.01.2022 EVERYDAY ROUTINES #3 Turn your cleaning time into a great time to expand on your childs language. You can focus on some great describing words (DIRTY table/ CLEAN table), action words (PUSH the vacuum, WIPE the table, WASH the plates). You can even work on turn taking which is an important skill for children to have in order to develop conversational skills (mummys turn to wipe the table). Leave a comment below if you need some creative ideas on how to expand on your childs language in particular everyday routines :)

11.01.2022 EVERYDAY ROUTINE #2. Driving in the car is always a great time to talk to your child. Since the weather has been changing a lot lately, take this as an excellent opportunity to expand your childs vocabulary for e.g. Sunny/ hot/ hats/ shorts OR rainy/ cold/ /jackets/ boots etc

08.01.2022 Where is the green sheep? is definitely a favourite! :) You can explore so many different concepts with your little one - such as describing words (dirty, clean, fat, thin), location words (on the bed, in the tub) and verbs (sliding, diving, swimming, flying). We encourage you to still read stories to your child, but also focus on just talking about the pictures in the book! Its amazing how many opportunities you can use to expand on your childs vocabulary! Turn your book reading time into a fun and interactive time with your child!

04.01.2022 EVERYDAY ROUTINE TIPS #1: Practice sh words when your child is getting dressed (shoes/ shirt/ shorts/ shoe lace) For example you can use shirt by saying "what are we going to put on.. your..shhh-irt!"
