02.01.2022 NURSERY OPEN TO THE PUBLIC FRIDAY 20th November from 8am to 11pm. Special this week at $2.50 a tube: Eucalyptus curtisii, Plunket Mallee. It’s not a local native but seed was collected from a tree near the nursery. This small euc has been planted as a street tree in Lake Macquarie and is also on Newcastle City Council’s Street Tree Selection Manual with a high rating for biodiversity. It is fast growing, flowers at an early age and produces masses of flowers in October to December. The attached photos show the one planted near the nursery.

01.01.2022 , Climbing Guinea Flower: a fast-growing climber or scrambler can be used for a screen on walls and fences (like here at TIN’s nursery) or as ground cover. They are also tolerant of salt-laden winds. We have them available at our sale this Friday (8am - midday) for $4 per tube.

01.01.2022 Native Bees!! Are you interested in attracting native bees to your garden? This segment on Gardening Australia featuring native bee researcher Kit Prendergast may be helpful. Native bees (naturally) like native flowering plants such as those in the FABACEAE (Pea flower), ASTERACEAE (Daisy) and MYRTACEAE families. TIN’s nursery has a wide range of plants in these families. See previous posts for some examples. Another thing you can do to attract native bees is to make yo...ur own bee hotel designed specifically to attract native bees. There’s some info in the video about that. Commercially available products may not be suitable for native bees so it’s a good idea to do some research about that. Good luck in bringing some native bees into your garden . https://youtu.be/zH7YorqNeXY

01.01.2022 Native Mint Bushes: , Narrow-leaved Mint Bush, a shrub to 3m high has faintly aromatic leaves whereas , Cut-leaved Mint Bush, has strongly aromatic leaves. Both are available ($4 per tube) at our native plant sale this Friday from 8am to 12 midday. We also still have , Magenta Lilly Pilly, at a great price of $4 in larger sized forestry tubes.

01.01.2022 We have a new phone: 0401305775 Please contact Jocelyn if you would like information regarding plants and the nursery.
