21.01.2022 Farmgate Update.... Please note, due to the current COVID19 situation, we have decided to close the farmgate until we deem it safe to re-open. We will now look ...at being a supplier to some of our local Veg Box programs which we will advise when this happens. On occasion we may even offer our own Veg & Wellness boxes so stay tuned. We would like to thank our farmgate patrons and look forward to re-opening at a later stage. We apologise for any inconvenience and thankyou for your understanding. 10.01.2022 We are excited to announce Jindalee Ag - Premium Organic Compost Soil is now available at Trellis Earthworks & Landscaping Supplies in Gloucester NSW. Limestone... worked with Mitch from Trellis in 2019 to secure this opportunity to provide our region with an Organic Compost Soil that has no bio-solids, excellent water retention and a general PH level of 6.5 to 7.0...! 'Jindalee Ag collaborate with leading organics recycling waste management companies by playing an integral role in the organic composting process with their partnering composting facilities. This organics composting process converts organic green recycled waste material (Food Organic and Garden Organic (FOGO)) - FREE from biosolids/sewage sludge to produce premium quality, certified organic, AS4454 and AS4419 compliant compost products.' We are currently trialing this organic compost soil with seed germination, fruit tree transplanting, general veg gardening and am hoping to have our friends over at Biocast+ from Island Biologicals give it a microbial check over... So far its looking promising :)

03.01.2022 Meet Brett Cooper from Australia We are Brett, Nici, Trae & Bronte Cooper of Limestone Permaculture Farm located near Stroud in the beautiful Karuah Valley... on the midcoast of New South Wales, Australia. Living on a now abundant one acre Permaculture Principled Homestead, our high yielding, naturally grown & nutritionally dense produce is savoured by my family and bartered & sold via our Farmgate. In 2003 Nici fell ill with an immune-related illness whilst living in Newcastle sending us on a more ‘Produce your Own & Eat Healthy’ lifestyle path. The need to provide a more organic life for my family re-ignited an earlier gardening upbringing, working on farms as a travelling young man throughout NSW, SA &VIC & my passion for homesteading! At this point everything went into overdrive for our family, Brett focused on own researching, networking, permaculture workshops & courses. Nici delved into nutrition & homesteading. Realising we had more to offer our family, we moved to a small acre farm at Stroud Road Village NSW in 2010. Being a blank canvas homestead of a little over one acre & armed with some knowledge of permaculture design, I set about designing & implementing almost immediately. Meanwhile I continued to upskill by undertaking the Introduction to Permaculture short course, PDC (Permaculture Design Certificate) course, Advanced Design Process course & eventually a Cert IV in Permaculture through Riverena TAFE. It is our 10th year on our farm in May 2020 and now fully comprehend the benefits of permaculture principled design and planning. The farm now has abundant growth & incredible produce bounties, the positive impact it has had on our family’s health, our community connection & the benefits back to our local environment has been awe inspiring! Limestone Farm now has over 400 fruit and nut trees (native & non-native) throughout the property, market gardens, grow tunnels, espaliered orchard, food forest and much more. We focus on heritage, heirloom & organic crops (annual & perennial) with many of the seed varieties being saved by us. We apply an Integrated pest management system utilizing natural solutions via plants, insects, fish & animals along with natural spray mixes & exclusion tunnels to control our on site pests. These pest problems generally occur when there is an imbalance between pest & predator so sometimes you need to take a step back to observe what is really happening in your garden prior to acting. Our Farm Gate also acts as a Co-op where we assist local growers by giving them a point of sale for their produce in our region. We have been transitioning with our on-farm business and our fulltime jobs off-farm right up to the end of 2017, then we made the final transition to fulltime income on-farm starting 2018 utilizing our diverse Permaculture business. Both our son ‘Trae’ & daughter ‘Bronte’ assist on the farm making for a very productive family business based on Permaculture Education, Permaculture Principled Homesteading & Regenerative Market Gardening! So what is Permaculture? For my family & I, it is an Ethical & Principle based, evolving Design Process for a naturally sustainable & resilient life! Organically integrating human needs with climate, landscapes, plants, animals, structures & community. Limestone Farm Design utilises Land Rehydration & Regenerative practices to maximise moisture penetration & storage by: - Swale & Terrace earthworks on contour to slow, sink & spread surface water. - Utilizing shade trees, windbreaks & living much to slow evaporation & protect our soil food web. - Utilizing various carbon mulches for soil protection & moisture retention - 65,000lts of stored tank water on gravity feed - 100’s of thousands of litres of water stored in our landscape in the form of soil moisture and plant life. Limestone Farm energy solutions include: - an 18kw solar system spread over three separate roofs with three separate inverters as well as grid connection. - Our cooking energy is supplied by gas and timber - Our heating energy is from timber only - Our labour is sourced from our energetic family of four As part of our permaculture ethics, we believe in friends, family & community support, thus we have been involved in many community initiatives & events over the years. We also teach via our Permaculture Education Center & Demonstration site which examples our techniques, permaculture design & regenerative growing systems. Our family has been living with Permaculture long enough now to know it is the natural solution to many of our daily life issues being environmental, health & wellness, work-life, farm functions etc. What we love most is the enjoyment, fulfillment, inspiration & hope our little farm gives us and others every day! Facebook: Limestone Permaculture Facebook: Simply Homesteading Website: https://www.limestonepermaculture.com/ There is a brand new 17min farm tour video just been released by Happen Films on Limestone Permaculture farm (released 17/4/2020) found here > https://happenfilms.com/
