25.01.2022 Looking at some coastal coaching sessions over the next month, please get in contact if your club or you as an individual would be keen. Have a good weekend.

25.01.2022 A lot is made of a batsmen’s pre delivery set up (stance), it’s my belief that what the batter does before the ball is bowled is irrelevant. As long as when the ball is delivered they’re able to access full deliveries with a straight vertical bat. The first thing that I look for in player is the access they’re able to get from full deliveries in terms of how much bat face I see. Every batter on earth has a natural swing arch, and as a coach it is important to recognise and ...work with the arch rather than against it. Some players are natural leg side players (Steve Smith) so you position them to accces that side of the ground more often. Batting can be summed up as simply as never make two mistakes or you’re out If a player played off the back foot to every ball they ever faced but didn’t miss any, would be a problem? No - the issue comes when the SECOND MISTAKE is made (missing the ball completely). No player is perfect and you cannot strive for perfection in every session. Feel free to drop any questions below, privately or otherwise. TK

25.01.2022 What is the most crucial element for being an excellent coach? Ideas and discussions below. Relatability* for me.

23.01.2022 Been working with Shane Dunn for around 6 weeks now. Barely ever picked up a cricket bat, wanted to be able to contribute and play with his son. (Why we play). I was thrilled to be asked, then even more thrilled to get to work with a player from the very beginning. Quite often the players that I work with, of which I am very fortunate are already seasoned or well on there way. It’s more tinkering with the base level than changing things. ... With Dunny, not only has it been very grounding to work from the beginning but players who have limited cricketing experience also give coaches (not just me) a lot of why the pressure is put back onto the coach to explain why things are being suggested. That’s a real opportunity for development both for player and coach. I have learnt more about my coaching with ‘Dunny’ than coaching professional cricketers. Shot son,

23.01.2022 What are the fundamentals for success in your opinion? Please leave a comment below. Does hard work always beat natural talent? Or are some people just born for greatness?

21.01.2022 Tag your batting partner. I’ll start with Gurinder Sandhu Some chase by the aussies.

21.01.2022 Little Broady junior cut shot artist. Quite easily the greatest batting drill of all time. Not bad for 11!

13.01.2022 Some work with Launceston CC club captain Alistair Taylor this morning. Drop your thoughts on this drive below. After an informed discussion with AT we were able to ascertain some playing well cues for him. ... 1) front foot unweighted on ball release. 2) front foot pointing to right hand of mid off (or straighter) 3) late contact point. Quite often when players are stronger off back foot they will begin to over search for their favoured scoring shots, it’s my belief that by asking them to be always looking for the drive and moving their head forward it will allow instincts to play a greater part. 13.01.2022 1. Consistency /in your action and stock delivery. 2. Temperament and ability to perform under pressure and not get carried away with the situation as conditions are always changing whether that be environmentally or within the game. 3. Fittnes, being physically fit but also recovering well as bowling is tough on the body. ... The three most crucial ingredients to be successful as a bowler in any circumstance, straight from Ryan Lee’s experience and thoughts this morning during our weekly link up.

10.01.2022 Some run up work with a young Broadbeach CC quick. Was having confidence issues around his jump point and over stepping regularly. Stripped it back. Worked his ass off. Fixed.

08.01.2022 With great excitement we are able to announce Ryan Lees has joined the TKC stable as our number 1 bowling guru. The former Cricket Australia, Tasmanian Tiger and current University Cricket Club seamer is now a level two Cricket Australia coach. From my perspective, Ryan’s supreme accuracy, skill and fitness has taken him as high as the professional game and his skill sets for all our bowling stable will be paramount to development and I am very proud to have him on board. ... Some words from Ryan - Very excited to be teaming up with TKC, Keepy and I have a very close friendship as well as a healthy rivalry when competing against each other. I absolutely love coaching and am looking to put many hours in to develop this area of my career.

06.01.2022 Babar Azam. One of the worlds prettiest on the eye. It’s easy to click on the highlights and watch an elite array of ball striking, but what you won’t see is the grit, determination & understanding of the situation in his first 30 balls. Played and missed, smashed on the pad - just got through it. Earned the right to play as purely as he did from ball 35 onwards. ... A great lesson.

06.01.2022 Snippet of wicket keeping this morning with Connor Dennis from Latrobe Demons Cricket Club & Hurricane youth rep. Having a strong base is crucial for the strength to move laterally as well as upwards and downward but the most crucial element is an alignment of the wicket keepers palms and his or hers middle centre point of the body. In this video I’m explaining envisioning a piece of string from hands to nose. You always want to keep it straight and in turn, the hands under the eyes! Stay tuned for more footage!

05.01.2022 Love Alistair McCaw and his philosophy.

03.01.2022 Rhys French hard are work at KDCC training last evening. We have been working 1 on 1 over the last 12 months on the un weighting of his front foot after trigger -‘and keeping his eyes level. Any comments below.
