25.01.2022 Here are a few great ideas to create better "traffic flow" in your house... https://loom.ly/UDnwJj4

24.01.2022 What colour you choose to use within the bedroom is one of the most important factors when it comes to designing the space. The current consensus amongst the research boffins is that soft blue achieves the most restful sleep consistently. Does that mean if you paint your bedroom anything other than a soft blue then youre in for a bad nights sleep? Nope. ... If the main idea behind colour is to choose one that is conducive to sleep then neutrals can play a part in creating the right environment. In other words, choose a soft colour that works best for you. Image: Sheridan.

22.01.2022 Live close to nature to keep active, healthy and well. Nature locations including a beautiful lake, the ocean, a farm or mountain range. If this cant be achieved. Incorporate what attracts you most in nature and bring this to your home. This will create balance, harmony and happiness. This is the first tip that Kezza Kat from Fearless Yoga and Wellness Tribe gives us and its the one that I know makes my heart sing. Being able to live right near the beach, to hear it, see it and take it all in every day is really powerful. I know the power nature has on me. About a year ago, I was so overwhelmed and ridiculously stressed out I hadnt even noticed Id walked along the beach. That was the day that I made a life changing decision and havent looked back.

22.01.2022 How do you create wellness in your home? I find Kezza Kats take on creating wellness authentic and easy to implement. She says BE FEARLESS, create a home your heart desires. Be present, live in the moment and live a mindful living lifestyle. Happy Monday!... https://loom.ly/EidX7ng See more

22.01.2022 The larger the variety of design styles you are exposed to, the easier it is to eliminate design styles that you don’t like and the easier it is to identify those that you do. Pinterest is a great place to do this.

21.01.2022 Renovating a bathroom on a budget? If your current bathroom works on a functional level then keep the plumbing in the same place to keep your costs down. Bathrooms can be costly to renovate, so any savings you make along the way helps the hip pocket

21.01.2022 When choosing neutral colours for your home there are many factors to consider - climate, natural light and house layout to name a few. Neutral colours can change from room to room depending on the natural light and reflections from other surfaces in the space. So, what works in one home may not work in another.

20.01.2022 Thank you for the lovely review Vivienne! "We were really happy with the work done by Trentini Design. We had no idea of what colours to choose for the interior of our house that we were renovating but Kathryn chose the perfect colour combinations and materials for the interior walls, carpet, lighting, blinds and kitchen cabinetry. Kathryn was very intuitive when it came to understanding what we were trying to create and over 2 years later, I cant think of anything I would ...have done differently. It was our first time renovating and the options seemed endless so It really took the stress out by having Trentini Design onboard and for a very reasonable cost. I would definitely hire Trentini Design again." ~ Vivienne ~ See more

19.01.2022 The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the home second only to the kitchen. The design and aesthetics of the bathroom can have a huge impact on how you begin and end your day and as such we are seeing the focus shift from one of pure function to spa-like amenities that respect the ritual of bathing. Even if you have a small budget, there are ways you can achieve a modern designer bathroom.... https://loom.ly/FI9OSkU See more

15.01.2022 What do you think about the tiny home movement? I am a massive fan of tiny homes probably because I dont believe in having rooms for the sake of having rooms. Thats not to say I want to live in a tiny home; but Im adaptable so if I had to, Im sure I could make it work! We can learn a lot from the tiny house movement, from its adaptability to its multi-purpose space saving design ideas, and a whole lot more. ... Whether you have a small, medium or large home, theres an array of really clever space saving ideas that can be used in your home. https://loom.ly/EidX7ng

15.01.2022 What do you think would make your bedroom more restful? For me, its a combination of good design, the right colour palette, soft furnishings and good habits to encourage restful sleep. My number 1 tip though would be, declutter. I read a great quote from Libby Sander, assistant professor of Organisational Behaviour at Bond University who said "clutter can make us more anxious, lead to poor sleep and deplete our cognitive resources". Who agrees? ... Like all interior design, theres no simple answer, yet a combination of factors that together support and encourage good sleep. 13.01.2022 Whats the worst thing about your bathroom? If youre anything like me, its not going to be finding a cat in a bathtub Ill often hear things like I need more storage or the lighting is really bad in here or even Itd be great to have more natural light. Do any of these sound familiar? The bathroom is one of the most important rooms in the home second only to the kitchen. The design and aesthetics of the bathroom can have a huge impact on how you begin and end you...r day and as such we are seeing the focus shift from one of pure function to spa-like amenities that respect the ritual of bathing. 13.01.2022 What makes a home feel comfortable? Why do some rooms feel really good to be in and others you want to vacate as soon as you enter them? I lived on a farm for over 15 years and Ive seen well-worn paths as they make their way from the best grazing areas to water to areas for sleeping. They know this is the most efficient path from one point to another and they walk it so often its now easily identified. The same can be said for traffic flow through your home. Take a look a...t how youve set up your furniture because that could be the cause of why the room isnt working for you. Is there a room in your house that feels uncomfortable to move through? Is something stopping the traffic flow in that room? If this is something that youve been struggling with for a while and you cant work it out yourself then give Trentini Design a call and lets chat! https://loom.ly/EidX7ng

12.01.2022 The colours you choose to surround yourself with are a good reflection of your personality. I personally love soft warm neutrals that allows the decoration of the space to flow gently through the home. Im a huge fan of bold colour, but reserve that mostly for furniture, soft furnishings and decorative elements in the space. What do the colours in your home say about you? Do you gravitate towards warm soft shades or are you more into cool tones? Bold jewels or neutrals? Cha...nging a space through paint is one of the easiest ways to update and add your own personality that best reflects who you are. Get painting peeps! 12.01.2022 You may have seen, I have recently launched our workshop series which is so exciting! By the end of the course you will walk away with the exact look, feel, and visual effect you're wanting...the one that is in your head so that you can apply it to your space. This is how it works...... You will spend one hour a week via Zoom, working with me through four modules of help and great value. Week one we start with Pinterest - I take you through how to use Pinterest in order to understand what it is that you want your home to look like. Week two, I show you exactly how to use Canva - an awesome app' to create a 'mood board'. We will take 10 - 12 images you have found on Pinterest and use them to create your mood board. There's no right or wrong way, but I do have a trick or two to save you hours so that you can successfully create your mood board. In week three, I'm going to help you understand what information is contained within the mood board. Your mood board is a direct representation of your subconscious, and getting this right is so important in how you want to 'feel' in your home. You already know what you like and what you're attracted to, but articulating that can be very difficult, so creating a mood board and being able to interpret that is going to save you both time and money when shopping. By the end of the course, you will have all you need to start planning, and purchasing what you want without any fear of buying the wrong thing, how cool is that?! You can get all the details here -> https://www.trentini.com.au/short-courses/

12.01.2022 "One storage item I would recommend is the shower niche for this I would say make the budget stretch because it will change your life!" ~ Kathryn Trentini ~

11.01.2022 As a designer, its my job to design spaces so that the space itself acts as a support system for the people who use them. I worked on a project recently that included the design of the parents retreat that included a walk-in-robe and ensuite. This was a new addition to an existing home with the bedroom located on the second story boasting views out to a mountain so the scenery from this vantage point should be pretty darned spectacular. I imagined the space should be serene,... calm and unencumbered by clutter and yet the plans I was given to work from, if built according to the plan, would create the exact opposite feel. Without hesitation, I set about redesigning the space to ensure the owners would get everything they wanted, plus have a space that encouraged good sleep. Lets take a look at some of the design ideas you should be thinking about when designing your own bedroom. Image: Sheridan.

11.01.2022 I spent a lot of time planning every room I worked on in the Balgownie House but it was this particular area that was critical to the design because of its location in the home and its importance to family life. Let me tell you if I got that sofa wrong then OMG it would have been a complete nightmare. Can you imagine? A poorly planned home with bad traffic flow is just going to piss you off every day. Imagine having to put up with that EVERY SINGLE DAY. ... Save yourself the headache; map and analyse the traffic flow before you renovate or build.

10.01.2022 If you already know what your design style is then Pinterest is really effective for nutting out those finer details of your project.

10.01.2022 "There are many variables when choosing the perfect neutral or white paint colour for your home and these all need to be taken into account. From the surfaces youre working with, the other finishes that will be used in the space, to the amount of natural light and furniture choices will all impact the final outcome." ~ Kathryn Trentini ~

10.01.2022 Another happy client for Trentini Designs: "I engaged Kathryn on a consultancy basis to assist me with sourcing some specific items I required. I was looking for an independent opinion to ensure that my selections were consistent with my existing design - and would work! Kathryn is a pleasure to deal with. She had some great suggestions and she gave me confidence to pursue some less conventional ideas I was flirting with. Im thrilled with the results and get compliments all the time." ~ Caroline ~

09.01.2022 The elements and principles of designing a small space are exactly the same as those for larger spaces. Whilst larger spaces can be forgiving, if you get these wrong in a small space it becomes obvious very quickly. Spend time on setting out the traffic flow and clearances on paper first so that you can make mistakes on paper rather than in real life. Saves you money in the long run so its a win-win!

09.01.2022 "You can find just about anything on Pinterest and it’s a really great place to find inspiration for decorating, styling, building or doing a home renovation." ~ Kathryn Trentini ~

09.01.2022 There is a natural and efficient path on which we want to move around the home, from one room to another, and within a room itself. Lets put that theory into practice and use a really easy example that lots of us will understand - the kitchen work triangle. The kitchen work triangle is a concept used to determine efficient kitchen layouts that are both aesthetic and functional. The primary tasks in a home kitchen are carried out between the cooktop, the sink and the refrigerator. If youre wondering where the fridge is in the Annandale House, its integrated. Head to the blog to read more about traffic flow, clearances and space planning. https://loom.ly/zF8oYwI

07.01.2022 Are you making the most of your small spaces? The studio space in the Annandale House is around 2.6m wide and for some homeowners, its hard to understand how they can make a narrow space work properly. This is the magic of planning the space properly and combining it with custom joinery to create a multi-purpose work, guest and living area all in one. Although it looks effortless, this space works super hard for the homeowners every single day. Photo: Anthea Wiliamson

04.01.2022 I was asked recently, what keeps me creative? Definitely, my dog. I have great conversations with her and she's perfect because she always agrees with me and never answers back!...lol But I think what really keeps me creative is making sure that I am truly honouring myself, and grounding myself because without that, the buzz can get too much, and then the creativity just drops away. This year, meditation has helped keep me grounded, and creativity has been clear and super productive which is always helpful being a designer

04.01.2022 Mark wrote a lovely review after working with Trentini Designs recently - isn't it time you called your home "an amazing space"? Kathryn can help you do that... "Thank You Trentini Design. You have created an amazing space that I now call home. Fantastic advice and follow up service from start to finish."

02.01.2022 In 2009 I embarked on a renovation project that changed the course of my life forever. During that first project, I was working mainly from intuition. I wasn’t aware how I was building in functionality, how I was accommodating clearances, how I was designing the space and arranging the furniture to create good traffic flow. It just seemed to make sense and I went with it. I think my experiences of living in a home that was so poorly designed impacted me more than I understood.... The way I was designing, I understand now, was placing emphasis on the functionality of the space whilst layering the aesthetic. Again, intuition was leading me here. I just knew I didn’t want these homes to end up like that crappy one I lived in for all of those years! Designing your home to fit your lifestyle is a process, it doesn’t happen overnight. However, knowing how to avoid some common interior design mistakes is half the battle. I'm sharing 10 of the most common interior design mistakes so you can avoid these and end up with the amazing home of your dreams. You deserve it! Grab yours here https://bit.ly/35OSfVq

02.01.2022 This year, post COVID lockdown in NSW, I was lucky enough to visit the gorgeous Southern Highlands area where open fireplaces invited conversation and cups of tea, layering up during the day and snuggling down into a warm bed at night was the daily routine. So what makes a great bedroom? Is it simply the bedding you choose or does design matter when it comes to getting a good nights sleep? As a designer, its my job to design spaces so that the space itself acts as a suppo...rt system for the people who use them. I cant force you to keep the bedroom neat and tidy because I know that clutter increases anxiety and anxiety is a sleep inhibitor. Nope. What I can do, is provide the right types of storage in the right place in order for you to naturally and easily maintain a neat and tidy space. Simple right?
