21.01.2022 Although this idea has merit being present at the council chambers this afternoon when this was discussed was extremely amusing, first we must remember that the Townsville Bulletin did a story recently with the heading "Council's carrot to revamp CBD sites". The article included "The council were considering providing grants to owners who refurbish derelict buildings in the CBD as well as infrastructure charges concessions for new development" "The council had committed $650,...000- to the package as part of the 2019-2020 budget". Perhaps due to the outrage of this initial failed idea now they have come out with the big stick approach. whilst they are leaning in to give some harmony they nail the hit pocket. The chuckle part was when the Mayor proposed the local law she asked a seconder and a couple of councilors put up their hand. The Mayor stated a certain councilor as a seconder then asked if they wanted to make a statement why they would second it. What appeared to be a pre-written premeditated statement was then read out. Hence my chuckle. Nothing pre-organised there??? Come on 28 March 2020. Accountability and Transparency See more

21.01.2022 Hi Philip, now would be a great time for the Federal Government to step in and have talks for the sailing club on the Strand, a lot of money on a high performance centre for the few (although others may be able to afford to attend) about 2 million for the many would be a very nice investment in Townsville and community.

20.01.2022 That number of people "taking up the kerbside collection" is a smaller percentage of people that were taking up the dump voucher initiative, one of the reasons/excuses was that there was such a low rate of residents using them, this shows that not everyone needs either of these garbage initiatives. The cost of around 1.4 million in rates to make our city look like we have been hit by a bomb instead of a voucher system that allows residents to take their rubbish at their leisure instead of a 2 hour line up which poses its own issues. After over 2 years campaigning the overwhelming WANT from ratepayers is the voucher system and that is what I will be campaigning for as a candidate for Division 9 next year. Is about listening to the people

19.01.2022 I believe the problem within the Townsville City Council finances may be huge, as a Division 9 candidate for the March 2020 election it is hard to advise residents my thoughts about what we can afford as a city due to the in my opinion total LACK of Accountability and Transparency of the current council. The 2019/2020 Operating Budget Summary stated on page 10 the there was 21.7 million dollars in Finance Costs. I requested answers to the finer points of these "finance costs..." via numerous council forums and also requested this information via email to my current Councilor Colleen Doyle on the 27th of June 2019. I received a reply from Cr Doyle on the 1 July 2019 stating "I understand you have posed your question in numerous forums including the Mayors Facebook. A single response will be given as your question does not have multiple answers and will come from the Mayor." At the time of this post I still have NOT received the reply that I was advised by Cr Doyle. It is my understanding that councils borrow money from the Treasury at 1 or 2 percent interest. By my calculations if we as a community owe 1 billion dollars at 2 percent it would equate to 20 million interest and if we owe 2 billion at 1 percent it may equate to 20 million dollars finance costs. Is this what is referred to on page 10 of the budget. Why was I not given an explanation of this as I was instructed if there is Accountability and Transparency? An audit into finances is warranted after the election and this will only happen if there is some councilors not part of the Hill team. Mayor Councillors Choose Wisely See more

18.01.2022 As a resident of Townsville for 38 years and ratepayer for 30 years it was embarrassing personally to see what transpired in the Council chambers last week, as a hopeful for Division 9 in next years election I started attending these meetings 5-6 months ago for awareness. The attached letter to the Editor speaks volumes of my thoughts of this occurrence. Also on top of this one of the councilors voted against a proposal and under the act a written reason is required, the coun...cilor involved was given instruction what she would write in her statement by the Mayor. At this level of responsibility surely you should be able to draft your own reply. I will take a set of binoculars into next meeting to have a close up look for the strings. These meetings are now being televised so please if you have the interest/time have a look. This is our city leaders making decisions for our future. No photo description available. See more

17.01.2022 The Strand is a great assett for Townsville and the last 2 years of campaigning have given me great insite in some of the changes required that I have put forward as a part of my 2020 campaign. The requirement for more amenities at headlands including the jetty and Juliette's Gelateria to reduce family toilet needs stress. More benches plus covered areas with seating like were recently built at Rowes Bay. Rockpool to be discussed for a lagoon with all current users needs in mind with more parking at Jezzine Barracks, where room possible a dedicated bike path to separate the cyclists from walkers as per our northern neighbors, the discussion reference a change in Local Law 51 to allow families to enjoy a beer with their BBQ in this amazing climate.

15.01.2022 The 365 page feasibility study from 2013 shows the new stadium is going to lose millions of dollars annually, Cowboys offering 12 games for $180- gives an indication of the level of interest in the venue, lets hope that people take the offer up as we cannot deny that a Cowboys team doing well does put a better feeling around Townsville. The talk is about international yet we seem to not get it right as the restriction due to the rectangle status of the field, losing the oppor...tunity to have Australian Rules and Cricket over the life of the venture (surely foresight that we might need those sports visiting in our community over the next 30 years) Lets see how the Elton John concert goes, reports hundreds walking out of his Perth concert due to the behavior and profanities of Elton John. Reports were it was evidently a disgrace. Also the CBD that is referred to should be named the Flinders Street precinct as this part of town has not been the CBD for 25 years. Just my thoughts See more

09.01.2022 Great work Townsville, it was a great experience to be a part of this event for my son and I but we also need to remember that as on the certificate this is awarded to Mental Health Australia, this was in conjunction with World Mental Health Day. Well done everyone

09.01.2022 It is my opinion that there is still a lot of unanswered questions reference this tragic event, the information that has been given to me at my market stall requires in MY opinion answers under a royal commission, the people within the disaster management centre give statement under oath of the facts reference what transpired. Did Sun Water have the option to manage the dam or was there bullying or dictatorship within the room???? I requested the following information to the ...council generic council on the 2nd of November "I request some details of the monsoon event in February 2019 please". The council states they have become transparent and accountable but I received an email back from Townsville City Council LEGAL SERVICES on November 25th sending me to the dam water level site, also stating if the information I seek is unavailable through this avenue I need to fill out a Right To Information request with an attached form. For the people of Townsville still wanting the truth and facts reference this tragic event a Royal Commission may be necessary. We need to learn from this event for future reference and be aware of your neighbors in the coming wet season. Be safe everyone. See more

09.01.2022 The idea of the community forum has a lot to do with the chamber of Secrets debacle reported in the Townsville Bulletin 8th March 2018, as in the attached article. (Operational secrecy, staff ineptitude and poor record keeping". Also RTI issues). The original forum concept was in line with the "speak out" session but the questions being asked with and without notice were then printed and/or posted to show the ratepayers what was actually happening within the council, it is my... opinion that this is why they changed the format to STOP people from asking questions that were taking an interest in the way Townsville is being run. Yes the people asking the questions were then making this information known to the public but is that not what ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY is all about. Then you take the thousands of dollars of ratepayers money each forum to pay the (very friendly) council staff for the on average 15-25 people attending out of the 11 thousand residents per division. A total waste of time and money on a look at me love fest that in the end shows that they are not willing to listen. Come on 28th March 2020 See more

08.01.2022 Would be laughable if not correct, when i got to Townsville in 1981 there were still one lane bridges on the highway and was advised that there would be 4 lane highway from Brisbane to Townsville in 20 years. We don't have the give way coming north bridges any more but a long way to go.

07.01.2022 Mental Health Day Awareness- World Record- This afternoon residents of Townsville were a part of a world record attempt to have the highest number of high visib...ility in a single venue, the number to beat was 2136 help by a location in Japan. WE DID IT, I believe the final number was 2499 people attending so Townsville is now the World Record holder. It co-incides with World Mental Health Day with the aim to reduce stigma, promote help seeking and make mental health more visible in North Queensland. A partnership between the Queensland Alliance for Mental Health, the City of Townsville, Mentally Healthy City Townsville, Bunnings Warehouse, 3M and Mental Health Australia, the world record attempt was a free community initiative and is open to all ages. Mental Health Australia chief executive officer Frank Quinlan said the world record attempt was a fun way to engage a community and promote mental health and wellbeing. Well done to everyone that attended and be aware of the people around you See more

06.01.2022 Very disturbing in my opinion waste of our hard earned Ratepayers money

06.01.2022 Interesting response "We've delivered" from the current Mayor but I have had my political market stall for over 2 years and have had only one person state that they were supportive of the current elected representatives in Walker Street. The amount of issues that we have read in the Townsville Bulletin in the past 2 years including the "Chamber of Secrets" on the 8th March 2020, the recent $850,000- Jamie Durie fiasco and most recently the $56,000- expenditure on the gaming c...onsole for the Flinders Street Precinct. The puppetry that has been happening in the council meetings due to in my opinion, LACK of ACCOUNTABILITY and TRANSPARENCY. No matter who gets in as Mayor my role if I am lucky enough to be given the opportunity to represent Division 9 is to be "An Independent Alternative for Accountability and Transparency" also dealing with the issues of current expenditure. I will give my best and welcome Bede Harding as a part of the Hill team replacing Colleen Doyle for Division 9. See more

05.01.2022 Not a good look for a councillor

04.01.2022 THE HILL-RIMBANUN HIJAU FRAUD CONTINUES why the King and Queen of Townsville asbestos contamination, suspicious Chinese landgrabs and other related scams in No...rthern Australia have been active of late (especially on LinkedIn) Its funny who you might run into walking down Flinders Street. Last week we ran into the Rimbanun Hijau Rep (and fraudster) Warwick Powell. Hadn’t seen him face-to-face since he introduced me at the INQ office a few years ago to William Sun the Director of the similarly scandalous CCCC (a Chinese government belt and road agency with a growing reputation like RH for ‘fraud, corruption, and environmental damage’ overseas) RH’s secretive partner at Bluewater and in other suspicious joint ventures in Australia also believed to be fraudulently bypassing the Australian foreign investment review board. Chinese-Australian Powell saw me coming down the street and you should have seen the look on his face as he almost got run over by a car trying to escape across the road. Likewise, I have had several run-ins on LinkedIn with Powell’s ‘partner in crime’ Moya Steele RH’s dodgy development officer as well as Townsville Enterprise Director and a legal firm (Keir Steele) who, whilst also secretly representing RH, had a massive conflict of interest role in making local farmer Gavin Jepson the ‘fall-guy’ to cover for Rimbanun Hijau’s responsibility for the asbestos contamination of Toolakea public beach (as well as tidal flats adjacent to central area of RH’s fraudulent ‘equestrian resort’ secret deal with Jenny Hill). Warwick Powell and Moya Steele the ‘King and Queen’ of Townsville asbestos contamination, dodgy Chinese landgrabs (and industry takeovers) and other suspicious activities of foreign influencing, etc. Both have been very active recently on LinkedIn trying to deviously deceive about the Toolakea project that is now a current state coordinated project application to the Qld government (secretively supported not just by Hill but also influential government ministers like Jackie Trad and, in recent months, Cameron Dick). This may also be linked to how (with TRRA’s assistance) Jepson’s appeal is about to be heard against the suspicious reversal of the QWH&S Remediation Order against Rimbanun Hijaus for the asbestos contamination (on top of their illegal demolitions, blocking of public road and beaches, and much related skulduggery) to falsely blame him - after apparent inappropriate (i.e. seemingly corrupt) interventions possibly ordered ‘from above’. TRRA readers will remember how our eighteen month investigation has focused on pivotal secret deal meetings between Mayor Hill, Warwick Powell and the other key RH/CCCC Rep Simon Lee linked to corrupting Chinese businessmen buying up Australia and involved in ‘corrupt foreign influencing’ (such as Huang Xiangmo) dating back to a pivotal March 2015 meeting. As well as an insider testimony of how the ‘equestrian resort’ was not just one of a number of secret deals but a fraudulent front (i.e. to get local and state government protection from closer scrutiny) for the others at Bluewater, Moongabulla, etc, we also have a copy of Powell’s March email to Jenny Hill as Lee met with RH’ in Singapore and he with CCCC in Southern China. Soon after that Townville Enterprise’s Patricia O’Callaghan, JCU’s Margie Atkinson and Townsville Port reps as well as others went on a related trade trip to Guandong including meetings where William Sun was present. As we have recounted in earlier posts, this was weeks before JCU signed a fraudulent industry agreement with RH’s ‘fake company’ Seafarms Group (associated with claims of sabotage as well as fraud and deception in its secret buy ups of local companies concealing the notorious foreign groups and their secret deals behind this). It seems that Powell and Steele’s visible presence at Townsville Enterprise offices and on LinkedIn the last weeks might have to do with nervousness that the ‘game is up’ in relation to TRRA exposes. Over the last two months Powell has not only made some hasty posts about the equestrian resort at Toolakea but also his related dodgy activities linked to this in terms of getting ‘fake credibility’ for himself and then for RH (especially through the associations with JCU beyond Powell’s casual teaching position for a semester with Innovation North Queensland, Beefledger and Sister Cities). Powell posted up a number of photos about participants in early INQ meetings after 2015 also (photos which also inadvertently featured me at three different meetings at least which Powell clearly had forgotten about). Then he reportedly went back to JCU to get some new additional support for his Beefledger ‘scam’ (but was knocked back it seems after much adverse TRRA publicity about his dodgy activities). And then like Steele last month he posted several hasty posts about the equestrian resort. Both were perhaps worried that many government departments including the Qld Coordinator General’s Office (processing RH-Hill’s dodgy application) are now aware of and/or concerned about this case from TRRA complaints about illegalities and apparent corruption linked to this. This is not withstanding Cameron Dick’s recent ‘progressing’ of what we know to be a fraudulent scam plan to get government backing for RH’s secret ‘plundering plans’). For instance, like Steele’s similar October 5 Post about how she got Townsville Enterprise to uncritically embrace RH’s plan once more, Powell’s September 13 LinkedIn also deviously misrepresents the ‘opportunities’ (jobs, etc) for North Queensland whilst keeping secret all the devious bad, dishonest and costly implications for North Queensland/Australia. In this Post, which also a list of well-known recipients (some no doubt now getting very embarrassed by his association with them), Powell also includes Alan Middleton. An earlier TRRA Post reported on how as part of one of their deals with RH, Townsville Council went to a lot of trouble to suspiciously shut down local opportunities and initiatives as Warwick Powell sent Middleton a suspicious ‘partnership document proposal after William Sun apparently ear-marked the Airport as a priority acquisition for China. So Middleton’s name on the recipient list indicates a possible deal has been made (and not necessarily in the local, state or national interest). Also in this post (LINK 1 below) ) Powell (like Steele) used a number of hashtags that reinforce the deception of fake local benefit assurances as well as #nqccresort he also made references to #regional prosperity, # regional resilience, and # Townsville Shines as well as # Townsville Enterprise. Clearly Powell and Steele are working hard to cover up this is a fake and deceptive ploy we promise you a few ‘jobs’ so you will turn a blind eye and ignore how we are ultimately deceiving you....Don’t ask who is behind this, what are their real plans (for ‘taking over key infrastructure and areas of North Queensland/Australia for foreign interests) and how RH and CCCC both have extensive track records of ripping off locals in other countries (As RH in particular has destructively done in many countries such as Papua New Guinea where there are extensive and regular claims of human rights abuses as well as corruption and destructive damage to the environment, society and economy). (e.g. https://www.greenpeace.org//research/the-untouchables-rim/). When Sentinel’s Michael Kopittke queried me on LinkedIn about TRRA, Moya Steele responded with a vacuous and dishonest comment about ‘championing Australian products and innovation’ when what she may have really meant selling the place out to foreign crooks so that cronies (like herself?) will also benefit at local community expense. [The truth is, we think, that both Powell and Steele are deviously betraying Townsville, North Queensland and Australia] In earlier TRRA post we mentioned our ‘insider witness’ recounting how disgraced electoral fraudster Powell (named in the 2001 Shepherdson Inquiry) had sought to rebuild his standing with old colleagues in the current Qld government in terms of his links to Chinese ‘money’ and ‘investors’ (such as RH and CCCC). He also had told of his secretive meetings with Trad to take up the RH application for state coordinated project status after he had apparently arranged for illegal destructive fires in September last year to burn it our the area and destroy existing fragile environmental habitat (i.e. to willfully alter the vegetation profile of the area) so that the project application could proceed at haste after the earlier TRRA exposure. So it should be no surprise when another Post was put up about his good friend Jackie Trad recently going to China to sign the 12th iteration of the Qld-Shanghai Memorandum of Agreed Cooperations, that Powell was quick to give a Like (as was the former Townsville Council CEO Adele Young who quit days after our TRRA report on her direct and regular involvement with Powell on the Hill secret deals) [check out at LINK 2 There might normally be no problem with all this but in light of Trad’s links to Powell, Young and Hill as well as her own dealings with corruption allegations, some sinister light could be brought to bear? 03.01.2022 Firstly I would like to thank everyone for their ongoing comments and support, I have a new FB page "Trevor Elson Independent Division 9 Candidate" that I request you like and follow, please feel free to reasonably comment or suggest at any time. Come on 28 March 2020

03.01.2022 (I have transferred the following comment with this page as it appears my comments have previously disappeared.) Yes well done Townsville and yes it is a world record but the reason that most of us attended goes deeper and it was achieved by MENTAL HEALTH AUSTRALIA (Australia), in partnership with Bunnings Warehouse for Mental Health day in Townsville (as per the attached certificate). I have had to remind this very important reason in numerous posts. Why do these political posts continually NOT broadcast this important message. ???????? It is my opinion that if you are going to self promote Jenny please get the cause correct. :-)

01.01.2022 In my opinion a very poor use of our rates money. Once the truth finally came out the total price for Jamie Durie to attend and be a part of the campaign coming in at 800 thousand dollars, could have been a lot better spent on local knowledge and more product available.
