It's a national day of action which aims to prevent suicide by encouraging Australians to connect with someone they care about and help stop little problems turning into big ones. It's this lack of connection (or lack of belonging) that we want to prevent. By inspiring people to take the time to ask "Are youOK?" and listen, we can help people struggling with life feel connected long before they even think about suicide. It all comes down to regular, fac...e-to-face, meaningful conversations about life. And asking Are you OK? is a great place to start. Staying connected with others is crucial to our general health and wellbeing. Feeling isolated or hopeless can contribute to depression and other mental illnesses, which can ultimately result in suicide. Regular, meaningful conversations can protect those we know and love.
