24.01.2022 Believe us when we say Dean McHardie - Para Triathlete is a name you'll remember after this week's Triathlon Australia Zwift Social Ride Wednesday 5:30am AEST. As a firefighter and Mines Rescue Training Officer based in Newcastle, Dean was diagnosed with a Basal-Cell Carcinoma in 2014. Dean needed major surgery to cure his condition and subsequently felt quite lost. He turned to running to overcome his depression. Having started out with 10km runs, he progressed to half-ma...rathons, then ultra-marathons; 50km and 100km - then finally gave Ironman 70.3 a go, and since then hasn't looked back Dean is passionate about motivating and encouraging people to get into triathlon for their mental health and we look forward to chatting with him about it this week. Join the chat on Wednesday via zoom https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85667914918 So, will we be seeing you there? Sign-up to the Zwift series here http://bit.ly/TARideRun If you can't wait 'til tomorrow morning for some Zwift fun, you can also join us tonight for the Social Run at 7:00pm AEST! 08.01.2022 As far as mullets go, paratriathlete Liam Twomey's blonde beast is certainly up there as one of the wildest we've seen! Thankfully, it's all for a good cause! Through his role as a Mental Fitness Program Presenter with TA Partner, the Australian Institute of Sport, and his ambassadorship with Black Dog Institute, Liam is raising awareness and funds towards mental health programs and research by rocking a mullet for the Black Dog Institute's 'Mullets for Mental Health' this... September. "I've actually done a bit of a home job on my hair with everything closed in Melbourne and shaved everything off and kept a pretty rude blonde mullet for both September and October, with October being Mental Health Awareness Month" Twomey said. "With no way for the Institute to raise funds through big fun runs such as the City2Surf this year the Mullets for Mental Health is pretty important. I'm trying to raise $2000 in total for this month, I've already raised $1600, so really close to the target, and would love to hit that goal by the end of the month." Check out his mullet below and read more about why the Black Dog Institute and Mullets for Mental Health are important to Liam. Want to get behind Liam and his mullet this September?
