16.01.2022 We hope all our families and participants are staying safe during this difficult time that we are all trying to navigate. Just wanted to take a moment to introduce the newest member of our Tribes team to you all - Elisha! Staff Profile: Elisha Mentoring Coordinator... Elisha recently relocated from Melbourne to the Gold Coast obviously for the sensational weather that we are known for, as well for the outdoor lifestyle that goes along with that! With the water much warmer in these parts (and def better surf) she has been learning to surf, although she tells us that she isn't that great at it yet, she’s enjoying it immensely. As you can see Elisha loves the outdoors and all the activities it involves from hiking, camping to snowboarding and she is looking forward to exploring the coast, mountains and waterfalls that are in abundance. She is well travelled, and with her Italian family background, she really enjoyed visiting her family when she was travelling around Europe. She has also lived in Canada for a year - for the snow season - but found she loved the summer over there even more! Recently, she has discovered yoga and is loving the calmness and happiness this brings her. Previously, Elisha worked as a social worker and has a background in Child Protection as well as some experience working in a secondary college. Ready for her next challenge she feels Tribes is the perfect chance to combine her passions for assisting children, youth and vulnerable families with her love of the outdoors. She knows how beneficial the impact of being in nature, involved in outdoor activities, and feeling connected to others can have on one’s physical and mental health. We are so excited to welcome Elisha to the Tribes team. Her love of nature makes her a great fit and we know that her experience and knowledge will be an asset to the team! WELCOME ELISHA!!

05.01.2022 We know that this is a uniquely stressful time for everyone, full of uncertainty - we are in unchartered territory. However, what is also unique about this situation, is that we are all part of a committed, strong, passionate, grab-the-bull-by-it’s-horns TRIBE! Here is an example of how we are being FLEXIBLE and ADAPTING our services so that we can continue to provide our amazing participants with CONTINUOUS and CONSISTENT supports. One week ago, this participant was receiv...ing supports 5 days per week he was going fishing, training at the gym and playing golf. This participant and one of his family members are in a higher risk category than most and so for the safety of their family, they decided to bunker down. Tribes staff worked with the participant and his family to design a unique plan of remote supports. Consequently, the participant is still receiving 2hrs per day of mentoring supports. His program includes: Individualised training sessions Meal preparation and cooking This is not only increasing the participants’ mental wellbeing and boosting his immune system through healthy cooking, but their amazing mentoring relationship is able to be maintained.
