20.01.2022 What do the December 2020 changes mean for you? Follow the below link to see where you sit in the system. https://www.transport.tas.gov.au//i_am_a_novice_driver_on_

13.01.2022 Such beautiful flowers given - full of gratitude and thanks from helping a lady with whom needed a bit of confidence building, in her own Volvo 4x4. Happiness is everywhere!

12.01.2022 EXCELLENT ADVICE !!! Tips to stop a car when one of the tires explodes when speed exceeds 100 km/h 1. First tip: When a tyre explodes try to stay as calm as possible and hold the steering wheel firmly with both hands. 2. Second tip:... It's the most important keep your foot off the brakes and don't push it at all. Don’t even look at the brake pedal, don’t even think about it. 3. Third tip: Stay on your path and try not to change it or get out of anyone’s way, stay on a path as straight as possible. 4. Fourth tip: If your car has a manual transmission, gradually change to a lower BUT ONLY do so if you feel that the car is completely under control. If your car has an automatic transmission, stay in the Drive (D) gear DO NOT change. 5. Fifth tip: Don't use brakes, the drag from the exploded tire will slow you down. 6. Sixth advice: When speed drops to 50 km/h, you can gently press the brakes until the car stops Spread the message! You may save a life. See more

08.01.2022 Massive congratulations to Seth Long for passing his P1 Assessment in Kingston. Seth used his own neat Toyota Corolla. One very happy young man! #safedrivingforlifeseth

07.01.2022 New P1 drivers under 25 will be restricted to carrying one peer passenger aged 16-21 years old from 1 December 2020. P1 drivers have limited experience and need to devote their attention to the driving task. Removing distractions like peer passengers is a proven way to help reduce distractions and protect new drivers. If you progress to the P1 stage before 1 December 2020 these restrictions will not apply.... Who is a peer passenger? A peer passenger is someone aged between 16 and 21 years old, but does not include: family members, such as a spouse, domestic partner, sibling or step-sibling; an experienced driver who holds a full licence sitting beside them who is able to provide instruction; Tasmania Police or emergency services workers that are driving in the course of their duties; anyone younger than 16; and anyone older than 21. You can carry these people as passengers without needing an exemption. Are there exemptions? There are automatic exemptions (no need to apply) if you are a P1 driver under 25 and need to carry more than one passenger aged 16 to 21 for the following reasons: employment; essential activities (such as education or medical purposes); or family circumstances. The driver will need to demonstrate that the passengers do not meet the definition of a peer passenger, or where there are valid reasons for an exemption.

07.01.2022 Huge Congratulations to Elma Brica for passing her P1 Assessment after having lessons with us to polish up! Drive Safe Elma!!

06.01.2022 There are seven key elements to the new Plates Plus young driver safety campaign, all aligned with the specific safety enhancements being made to the licensing system. 80 logbook hours, including 15 at night. To help get the 80 hours in the learner stage, drivers will be able to: o attend a Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) program and gain five hours for the learner logbook;... o get a one-hour lesson with a certified driving instructor and gain two hours for the learner logbook (capped at 10 lessons, totalling 20 hours’ credit); and o get a free Keys2drive lesson funded by the Australian Government, plus a second free lesson funded by the Tasmanian Government. A single licence card for learner and provisional periods. New maximum speed limits of 90 km/h for learners and 100 km/h for P1 licence holders. A total ban on mobile phone use, including hands-free, for all learners and P1s. P1 drivers under 25 can carry no more than one peer passenger. New green P2 plates in the P2 stage. The new safer driver reward. The campaign directs people to our newly created website platesplus.tas.gov.au to find further information.
