Myrcene has been shown to enhance transdermal absorption, as well as possessing significant analgesic effects. It is thought to work via our opioid receptors, triggering our bodies to release endogenous opiates. In con...trast to morphine, no tolerance was observed after repeated doses. At high doses, myrcene proves to be an effective sedative. At low doses, it acts as a stimulant. A 2007 study also discovered that myrcene improved glucose tolerance comparable to metformin, without having an effect on glucose levels in non-diabetics.
