23.01.2022 Mick Fanning’s personal board is up for auction, with all proceeds going to a special little boy in need, Oli. https://airauctioneer.com/au/mick-fanning-signed-surfboard From @olisfundraisingteam - On 11 September 2020, our best friends Leni and Joel were given the devastating news that their darling little boy, Oli (aged 2) had been diagnosed with high risk Neuroblastoma. This is a rare and aggressive childhood cancer. Only 40 children are diagnosed each year in Australia.... Oli is under the amazing care at the Royal Children's Hospital and has been through numerous procedures so far, four rounds of chemotherapy and is anticipated to endure surgery to remove a tumour, stem cell transplant, radiation and immunotherapy. The cells have metastasised into his hip and bone marrow. He has now been stuck in a brace since late August aid in positioning his bones to allow them to heal, and still has another 8 weeks. The pain and suffering he has been through already is unimaginable. His treatment is expected to take at least 12-18 months. Once Oli’s treatment finishes in Melbourne, he may be eligible to participate in a trial in the US which stops the cancer cells from reoccurring, but this comes at an huge cost, up to 500k. They have a beautiful older daughter Alesia and on Monday welcomed a newborn baby girl Thalia. Oli’s diagnosis has come as a huge shock to the family, particularly as he was just 2 weeks old when Leni’s beloved father, Manny, passed away from cancer. Oli was their lifeline during this difficult time and it is absolutely heartbreaking that they have to deal with this cruel disease again. He is the sticky tape that's held our best mates family together. Joel and Leni’s life has been turned upside down and we want to alleviate some of the financial stress by assisting with Oli’s medical costs and associated expenses.
