22.01.2022 Tallerack (Eucalyptus pleurocarpa) The Noongar aboriginal name is Tjaltjraak ("Dul-u-ruk") meaning glow in dark. The distribution of the species roughly delineates the Esperance Noongar country.

17.01.2022 What a wonderful, beautiful and surprising thing it is to study the natural world! I was completely perplexed by this sweet little bush flowering profusely. Is it a Euphorbiaceae? Is it another WA plant family I'm yet to be acquainted with? Low and behold a naturalist told me it's Pomaderris brevifolia. What even! Pomaderris makes me think of big ol' Hazelwood (P. aspera) from Victoria. Yet, here is this dainty five-pelated acquaintance. I shared my findings with an old mentor who authorised the species! Connecting across the Nullabor. Delighting across Australia! What a privilege it is to be a botanist

17.01.2022 Verticordia is named after Venus Verticordia, the Turner of Hearts. Myrtle was sacred to Venus. Myrtle being the Myrtaceae family, of which this plant belongs. The name alludes to the beauty of Verticordia. I concur.

10.01.2022 The lovely smooth white male flowers of Climbing Clematis (Clematis pubescens). Every Clematis is its own work of art as sprawls in its unique way across a shrub or tree
