25.01.2022 Who remembers the Tuggeranong Valley View? In 1995 some Trinity students featured in the local newspaper alongside Mr Brendan Smyth. This was the year that Mr Smyth contested and won the by-election for the House of Representatives seat of Canberra. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
25.01.2022 Over the past week we have seen the beautiful Brindabella Mountains topped with snow. Seven years ago on this exact day, 28 August, the playground was also covered in ice when a major hailstorm hit Tuggeranong. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
24.01.2022 Last Friday our current Kindergartners celebrated 100 days at Trinity. It was an exciting and eventful day and we were all having so much fun that we forgot our Friday Flashback. In honour of 100 days of Kindergarten 2020, here are Kindies from the past few years (2010, 2014 and 2018) also marking the milestone. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
22.01.2022 Operating out of the back of Wanniassa High School, Trinity appointed Mavis Hudson as Head Teacher in 1981. She remembers: We had two rooms with windows and two storerooms We had to go to the school office to ring out or take delivery of any goods for us. Later, when a canteen was opened, we were able to use it but mothers had to go and place the orders and then collect them later. Had we not enjoyed the support of our parents who could do these tasks, we would not have managed the combination of classes and the geography of the building. Parents also helped with playground duty and clerical tasks. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
22.01.2022 On 1 September 2011 Trinity students participated in 'Count Us In' at Mount Rogers Primary School, alongside many other Canberra schools. 'Count Us In' is an initiative designed to celebrate music education in Australia. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
22.01.2022 Technology and its use in our school has certainly changed over the past 40 years. What did word processing, computers, ICT or digital technologies look like when you were at Trinity? #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
21.01.2022 Now that our new C-Block is open and the temporary Kindergarten classrooms have been removed, we have commenced the process of appointing a contractor to undertake a significant Junior School playground redevelopment. Once completed the new Junior School playground will contribute substantially to Trinity's learning centred school strategic priority. In 1993 the Junior (Primary) School also underwent a major redevelopment. Who remembers what it looked like before this? #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
21.01.2022 Four years ago in 2016 Trinity became a Preschool to Year 12 school, when we officially opened our Early Learning Centre. As a community we celebrated with an Opening Party including a BBQ, face painting, balloons, party bags, a jumping castle, stalls, entertainment and games. 1WayFM broadcast live and WIN News covered the event. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
21.01.2022 Over the years, the Trinity Library has grown, moved, been extended and remodelled. It had an early life in one of the ‘water tanks’, travelled on a trolley as a mobile library, had a story pit, a courtyard, card catalogue and for a very long time was filled with bright green shelves. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
20.01.2022 "The time is 6:30 and everyone is glued to their television sets watching the news of the day. What will be the hot story tonight? Investigative reporter Lois Name from the 6:30 News is hot on the trail of the most amazing super hero of all time. Who will it be?" In August 2009 Trinity Christian School's Junior Section presented 'Super Saviour Spectacular'. This Friday Flashback includes some of our most recent alumni and even a few of our current Senior students. #40Flashbacks #Trinity40
19.01.2022 Parent involvement and practical support have always been vitally important at Trinity. Over the years we have had many, many working bees and seen amazing things happen when our parent community has come together. Here is one of our early working bees on the Wanniassa campus in 1985. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
19.01.2022 Yesterday was Mufti (non-uniform) Day across the whole of Trinity. In April 2008 we also held a non-uniform day, as part of our Junior School Multicultural Day. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
19.01.2022 Welcome to Week 1 of Term 2. It has been wonderful to see how so many Trinity students, staff, parents and alumni have commemorated Anzac Day at home this week. In 2016 the Senior School captaincy team held a special and poignant Anzac Assembly. They also created some beautiful Anzac memorial artwork. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks.
17.01.2022 In 1997 the school performed 'It's Cool in the Furnace'. Complete with colourful, branded t-shirts, this production is remembered by students, staff and parents. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
16.01.2022 By 1984 the School had started entering teams into local sporting competitions. Our hockey team and netball team were filled with excellent players and achieved much success on the field and court. Our boys hockey team were the 1984 regional champions. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
16.01.2022 "Gold rush country, gold rush country, Recall the name and stake your claim, In gold rush, gold rush country." (Slim Dusty) Gold Camp at the Cotter was always a popular event in the 1990s. It transported students back a century as they ventured into the Aussie Bush to stake claims, complete activities, build mining tents and hopefully find some gold! #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
14.01.2022 Congratulations to our newest Trinity Christian School Alumni who graduated today. Class of 2019!
14.01.2022 Today, Friday 8 May, was the original date for our 'Back to Trinity Day' to celebrate our 40th. We are still hopeful that we will have this event at a later date. In May 1984, Stage 1 of Trinity Christian School, on our McBryde Cres land in Wanniassa was officially opened by Senator Susan Ryan. Senator Ryan was the Federal Minister for Education. The official opening was held outside under the gum trees and was attended by many staff, parents and all the students. #40Flashbacks #Trinity40
14.01.2022 Class 6T in 1995! Do you recognise anyone other than the two circled guest speakers for our next Association event?
14.01.2022 Today we will feature two #40Flashbacks, to make up for missing last week. The first memory is Mrs Cheryl Smith's Year 1 class from 1987. Cheryl was fundamental in the development and blossoming of our Primary School and was a treasured teacher for so many. We were so blessed to have her at Trinity. This class photo can also be found in our 40th Book. #Trinity40
13.01.2022 As you may be aware there have been some school closures across the country in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19.) Additionally, today the ACT Chief Health Officer announced that the ACT has confirmed its second case of Coronavirus. Unfortunately as a result of these developments and with the outbreak of COVID-19 expected to continue to spread, we have made the decision to postpone our 40th birthday celebrations until October. We have also postponed our scheduled March an...d May Open Days. The health and safety of our students, staff, families and visiting alumni is always our priority. The new date for ‘Back to Trinity Day’ will be Friday 30 October and the anniversary formal dinner will be held on Saturday 31 October 2020. We greatly apologise for any inconvenience caused. For further information or questions please contact [email protected] We hope you will continue to enjoy our #40Flashbacks over the coming weeks and months.
11.01.2022 In 2005 Trinity celebrated our 25th birthday. We also completed and officially opened "V Block" a large, brand new building for Senior students. V Block is still used for senior classes, the art rooms and the drama studios. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
11.01.2022 In recent years CAPA (Creative and Performing Arts) at Trinity has provided opportunities for students to participate in various Music Tours. There is currently a team of students touring New Zealand in this capacity. Were you ever part of a Trinity Music Ensemble or Music Tour? Did you know that we welcome and encourage our Alumni to play in the band for school events such as our bi-annual musicals and Celebrate? You can register your interest at [email protected]

11.01.2022 The Trinity Admin Team have always been a very important part of the school. They are involved in many areas, including finance, building projects, operations, documentation, communications and Reception. Here is the Admin Team photo from 1991. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
10.01.2022 On Monday we officially opened our redeveloped C-Block building. We also announced the new building name - 'Eucalypt'. This name is largely attributed to the very beginnings of Trinity on this site. In 1982, before the barricades went up around Trinity’s new land in Wanniassa, students, staff and parents gathered on the building site. They walked around the boundary, stopping and praying at each corner and then sat under a large Eucalypt tree to have lunch. Resting under that gum tree with the sun shining, the Trinity community thanked God for His faithfulness and the wonderful gift of land, dreaming of what would be built over the years. #Trinity40
10.01.2022 In 1986 when Mrs Kennedy began teaching at Trinity, the initial secondary school buildings were under construction. The secondary school was operating out of demountable classrooms in the primary school. After the new buildings were open, she vividly remembers racing between the two sections of the school, until the next stage of construction was complete. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
09.01.2022 For many of us, a plastic recorder was among the first musical instruments we encountered back in Primary/Junior school. Generations of young Trinity students have been offered the opportunity to delight their parents (and neighbours) by bringing one of these home to play. Recorder players featured here from 1987, 2003, 2007 and 2017. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
09.01.2022 Who remembers 'Coins for Alex or Som'? As a community outreach program, the students of Trinity in the 80s and 90s supported Som, a girl in Thailand and Alex a boy in Uganda. One activity to raise funds was to cover the basketball court with coins. Som grew up to become a nurse and always remembered the support of Trinity Christian School #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks

07.01.2022 Our last Flashback for Semester 1 is from 1985. Senator Margaret Reid came to visit the school and was warmly welcomed by staff and students. Mrs Reid was a Senator for the ACT from 1981 to 2003 and is the only woman to have served as President of the Senate. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
05.01.2022 40 Weeks, 40 Years, 40 Flashbacks: This year every week during term we will have Flashback Friday on our Alumni Page to celebrate our 40 years. On 19 May 1980 Trinity Christian School commenced with seven students and one teacher Mrs Kerry Manson. New students joined almost daily and by the end of the following week there were 11 students and numbers continued to grow. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
04.01.2022 By the time school photos were taken in 1982, Trinity had grown to 90 students and 4 teachers. This included our first full Kindergarten class. A mini Commonwealth Games was held on the Wanniassa School oval in 1982 and there was much excitement, because the School had secured a parcel of land on McBryde Cres. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
04.01.2022 In 2000 Trinity celebrated 20 years of delivering Christian education in the Tuggeranong Valley. The milestone was recognised in many ways; including with cakes, balloons, student performances, special visitors and a tree planting. The anniversary tree is still growing beautifully in the amphitheatre. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks

01.01.2022 In 1990 Mrs Julie Prattis joined our school community. It was her eldest son’s first day of Trinity Kindergarten and remarkably it was also hers! Mrs Prattis was a true blessing to Trinity over her many years of service. She was also lots of fun! Who remembers the day she came to school dressed as a chicken? #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
01.01.2022 Last night we announced the School Musical for 2020. 'Mary Poppins: The Broadway Musical' will be a key part of the Trinity Christian School 40th birthday celebrations next year. There are many other special activities and events planned, so watch this space for updates.
01.01.2022 Over the years Trinity has had many dress-up days, often to fundraise for missions, charities and outreach programs. Dress-up days also sometimes coincide with special excursions. Here is Mrs de Feyter and Mrs Poole's class from the early 2000s, dressed for the 'Olden Days'. #Trinity40 #40Flashbacks
