Identify your "why," "what," and "how" so you can be clear about your goals (you can even write these down). 2. Try starting with three 30-minute workouts a week to pace yourself. 3. Prioritise consistency. 4. Find other active people to support your efforts. 5. Do workouts you actually like - you're more likely to stick with it. 6. Invest in a great pair of shoes - your body will thank you for it! 7. To avoid burnout and injury, start slow and build it up 8. Accept that you'll have setbacks along the way 9. Think of working out as an act of self-care. 10. Master fundamental movements like squats, lunges, presses & pulls before getting too fancy. 11. Don't compare yourself to people who are further along in their fitness journey. 12. Know that results don’t happen right away it’s a lifestyle change we are going for 13. 15.01.2022 Let's try and simplify the process of fat loss - Whichever type of diet you enjoy (keto, paleo, Intermittent fasting etc) you lose weight when in a caloric deficit (consuming less energy than you use) How many calories for me Easy to do, use a calculator https://tdeecalculator.net/ to work out your otal aily nergy xpenditure (TDEE) and apply a deficit to it (15 - 20% is a good starting level)... Track your calories to ensure you are in the calorie deficit (myfitnesspal is a good tool for this) - quite often people underestimate how many calories they are consuming so tracking is great for improving accuracy Move regularly - set a step target (people tend over overestimate how active they are so a step target ensures a certain amount of movement) Lift weights - ideally we want to hold on to and even build lean muscle whilst in our deficit phase so resistance training is key Increase your protein intake - helps with satiety and is key in muscle gaining Plenty of fruit and veggies - fill you up with loads of nutrients and flavour Do some cardio if you enjoy it it is not essential for fat loss Good quality sleep (aim for 8 hours) Consistency - its not going to happen overnight! Try to avoid using your smartwatch to track calories burned during workouts as these can be wildly inaccurate. When you calculate your TDEE you will already be taking into account roughly how active you are on a daily basis so no need to add calories back into your day via your smartwatch We can't spot reduce fat - plenty of people are selling workouts that 'melt belly fat' but its just not the way the body works unfortunately we choose where to build muscle Fat burners are only guaranteed to shrink your wallet If you are not losing weight chances are you are actually in the calorie deficit that you think you are Still not % lets talk

11.01.2022 1. Have a plan - I see it all too often, people come in and just jump randomly between machines doing various exercises but without proper structure. I'm not saying this is bad but its certainly not optimal. Have a plan, know what it is you are going to do, track it, progress where you can. This will ensure your body is developing, technique is improving and you're moving in the right direction 2. Use good form - Good form with a slightly lighter weight is much more ideal t...han too much weight and sloppy form. Sure, this might be good for your ego but in terms of developing and strengthening your body its not going to help. You're leaving yourself more open to injury and also long term strength plateaus 3. Track your progress - this ties in to having a plan, if you are not tracking your progress how will you remember what you done the previous session? If the aim of the game is to progress you'll find it very hard to do if you can't accurately increase the difficulty of an exercise when its required. This works for weight lifting and also running - if you always run your 4 or 5km at the exact same speed and intensity your improvements will be very gradual 4. Enjoy your workouts - the whole process of the gym is a lifestyle rather than a sort term fix so find exercises that you enjoy and are beneficial to achieving you overall goals 5. Stay consistent - it all takes time! Getting stronger/getting faster/losing weight isn't necessarily going to happen in 2 weeks. Give it time, follow your program (4 to 6 weeks minimum) and see the results that this approach brings (it doesn't matter if you have the best program in the world written by the best trainer ever, if you don't follow it properly don't expect miracles) 6. Don't overcomplicate - workouts don't have to be too complicated! 5 or 6 good solid exercises can make up an amazing workout - its all about how you perform them a 'good' workout doesn't have to consist of 10-15 exercises that leave you completely destroyed in a pool of sweat.
