25.01.2022 We are proud to announce that Andrew Lim (Year 12) has excelled expectations and achieved second place in the state-wide Classical Association of Victoria’s Latin Reading Competition. Andrew thanked Trinity’s Latin program, its early pioneers Dr Deane Blacker and Dr Curtis Watson, and his current teacher, Mr Chris Scholten (with whom he is pictured above), saying ‘Latin at Trinity perhaps best encapsulates the dual depth and breadth of liberal arts I have come to love here at... the school. It unites fundamentally disparate notions of science, philosophy and the human experience, showing us ideas separated from our own by half the globe and over two millennia taking that which could so easily be dismissed as esoteric or useless and using it to touch the universal truths at the heart of our human condition. Just thinkin a world more divided than ever before, isn’t there something beautifully poignant in the thought that our hopes are no different to the dreams of those who lived, loved and lost in civilisations long since turned to dust? Perhaps yesterday’s wisdom might just help us shape and form our visions of tomorrow.’ #tgsLeadership #tgsLearnLeadBelong #tgsWeKnowOurStudents #TrinityGrammarKew

24.01.2022 Welcome to Year 7 boys! With the easing of restrictions, we were delighted today to welcome our Year 7 2021 boys to Trinity for an in-person Orientation Day! There were numerous streams throughout the day, with the photographed cohort being Year 6 students from our Junior School. All boys had a familiarisation tour of our Senior School, were given an overview of life as a Year 7 student and received their Year 7 Passport. As you can see, our Therapy Dog, Harvey Peanut, w...as a very popular member of our welcoming party! #tgsClassof2026 #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

23.01.2022 FROM THE ARCHIVES 1969 FOOTBALL PREMIERSHIP BALL After an outstanding pre-season, during which they defeated Xavier, Caulfield Grammar and Melbourne Grammar, and lost to the eventual APS premiers, Scotch by only three points, Trinity’s footballers were aware they were as ready as they would be to challenge Assumption for the AGSV title. After three rounds, both Trinity and Assumption were unbeaten. And so to Victoria Park on a windy Friday afternoon, before a large crow...d for what amounted to a grand final. Both teams wasted the wind in the first half, but Assumption did better in the third quarter and led by eight points at the final break. In a magnificent last quarter, Trinity kicked two goals against the wind to take the game by a single point. AGSV, A Sporting and Social History. To commemorate their premiership win, each player received a ball inscribed with their name. Roger Kennedy returned his ball to our School’s Archives in memory of their momentous victory! Wouldn’t it be fabulous if we could recreate with a win in the 2021 season!

23.01.2022 The 2020 Trinity Cup has been run! This long-held and much-loved House tradition sees the senior boys competing in a highly contested ‘piggyback race’. Our ELC students also join in the fun, with the Four-Year-Old Group taking on the part of the horses, with specially created horse heads, and the Three-Year-Old Group their spectators, donning hats fit for trackside. #tgsLearnLeadBelong #tgsWeKnowOurStudents #TrinityGrammarKew

21.01.2022 Last Friday, our International Students enjoyed a dumpling lunch as part of our Chinese New Year celebrations. We hope the Year of the Ox is a happy and prosperous one for all! Happy Lunar New Year!

20.01.2022 It is great to see our Early Learning Centre (ELC) students on campus. Yoga and mindfulness practise are now elements of our daily curriculum. Yoga offers our students many benefits, including coordination, balance, concentration and self-regulation. We share yoga with the children through story and creative movement, with each session finishing with mindfulness and breathing techniques to calm and recharge our youngest students in their busy days. They thoroughly enjoy it!

18.01.2022 The newest event on the School’s music calendar, Jazz in the Courthouse, was fortunately held before lockdown. Audiences enjoyed music from our small jazz combos, including Junior Jazz, Trintones, Jazz Apprentices, Augmented 7ths and Belling Jazz. The event, which gives music students from Years 5-12, the opportunity to explore a variety of jazz styles in greater depth and the chance to learn about and practise the art of improvisation and small combo playing.... Congratulations to the staff and boys involved; it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening!

16.01.2022 Today, as National Reconciliation Week draws to a close, we are honoured to share the commemorative jumpers designed and worn by our Indigenous students to celebrate the Reconciliation Round. At a recent Senior School Assembly, Phillip (Yr8) explained the background to the designs, starting at the top . 'The 3 waterholes on the chest represent the Senior School, Junior School and Bulleen. The lines represent the waterways and the connection between the three places. For man...y years, our people have painted and placed a hand on artwork. There are lots of reasons why, but the main one is it represents our people - this hand represents us, our people and the people who wear the jumper The pheasant on the right is Antwan's (Yr9) totem. It is a bird that represents his father's side, who is a Jawoyn person from the Northern Territory. The bird is common in the NT. It has brown and black on the body with an orange and red tail. The emu on the left is one of Tarkyn's (Yr10) dreaming, from his dad's side of the family. It is a big bird that can't fly, but it can run really fast. My (Phillip) dreaming is a Namarrgon, also known as the soul taker. This totem is like an urban legend that comes out at night and tries to take you away or cut your tongue off when you whistle. So, our elders hunt it away by making a lot of noise - banging against a wall or singing a cultural song. This totem spreads around Arnhem Land, where I come from, home of the Iwadja mob and Gunwingu tribe. The turtle represents James (Yr9) and Hurrikane's (Yr8) totem, the Long Neck Turtle. It comes from Hurrikane's mum's side in Echuca, is found in the local area and is the totem for many other Aboriginal clans. We acknowledge that there have been many people before us in Trinity's program. The lily pads on the jumper represent them. The kangaroo footprints represent the journey that we are on. The Aboriginal warrior on the back of the jumper represents the Trinity community.' Trinity is proud of its long and rich history of striving toward Reconciliation. It is an integral part of our School and community and something that personifies all we do.

16.01.2022 Today we celebrated our Class of 2020 VCE High Achievers. Our Principal, Mr Adrian Farrer, congratulated and acknowledged each of the Class of 2020 for their achievements. In celebrating our 2020 High Achievers - students with an ATAR of 99 and over - Mr Farrer noted they represent our entire school, and their achievements were attained with hard work and contributing fully to school life. Mr Farrer also spoke on personal achievement. He said, ‘achievement is not a summa...tive thing, you do not wait till the end of Year 12 but you accrue each day micro achievements that set you on a path that you can compare yourself with and get the best out of yourself. George Koutrouzas displayed his musical talent with a beautiful Violin Solo of Amusement Pour Le Violon Seul by Louis-Gabriel Guillemain. Congratulations to all! #tgsOpportunity #tgsTalent #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

16.01.2022 This morning we celebrated the late Stephen Jones (OTG 1996) at the inaugural ‘Be Glorious’ Leadership Breakfast held in the MCC Dining Room. 13.01.2022 Today, our Year 7 and 8 students began a three week unit in Aboriginal art, designed by Senior Art Teacher, Ms Sarah George. This is the first in a series of Indigenous units created to enhance the art curriculum. The subject for today's lesson were artworks by celebrated artist, Lorraine Kabbindi White, a Kunwinjhu, Gunmok woman. Kabbindi trained as an artist beside her grandfather, Bardayal Lofty Nadjamerrek AO, a renowned artist, respected traditional leader and ceremo...nial master. In 2020, Trinity commissioned Kabbindi to create four artworks to be installed in The Drum meeting room within the Tudor Centre. The pieces speak of the artist's deep spiritual connection to her country and all species within it. They are part of her Dreaming a personal story of creation and being. As well as being a valuable addition to our art collection, they present a rich teaching resource for our students. #stonecountrycreations #lorrainekabbindiwhite #NAIDOC2020 #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

12.01.2022 This term the Year 3 boys are exploring the central idea, ‘World faiths may connect people and build relationships locally and globally’ as a part of the Primary Years Program. Early in the term, the boys had a Teams call with Manjit Singh Hoonjan in Calcutta to ask him about Sikhism and Manjit’s experience living as a Sikh. This week the boys devised their own faith, combining aspects of all the faiths that they have studied. They made many connections between faiths and we...re very open-minded as they collaborated in groups of eight to create places of worship, rules, holy books, celebrations and symbols. The boys showed great pride when they shared their new faiths with teachers who had assisted them in their learning. #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

12.01.2022 We are thrilled to announce three Old Trinity Grammarians received Queen’s Birthday Honours: The Honourable Mark Alexander BIRRELL AM (OTG 1974) For significant service to the infrastructure sector, and to business. Dr Richard John LEAPER OAM (OTG 1965) For service to aged welfare.... Dr Laurence RODDICK OAM (OTG 1967) For service to paediatric medicine. 10.01.2022 We have a new addition to our highly regarded Outdoor Education Program! Year 8 students will now spend a week in Gippsland, traversing between the Banksia Peninsula and Metung - sailing, sea kayaking and bushwalking. This journey offers our boys the opportunity to become immersed in a coastal environment, experiencing ocean views, sandy dune systems, inland estuaries and lakes. And with that, the abundance of wildlife, including dolphins gliding in front of their yachts.... A feature of our program is the cross-age leadership offered by our Year 11 Outdoor Leaders; they help guide and support the Year 8 boys, developing strong friendships and connections. Trinity's Outdoor Education Program provides an invaluable opportunity for boys to learn about themselves, their peers, and the environment by engaging with the natural world while living and working together.

09.01.2022 There was excitement in our Prep classrooms yesterday with the first of our Orientation Days. Over the coming weeks, there will be a series of sessions for new and current students, designed to familiarise the boys with their new classroom, teachers and playground and to prepare them for next year. #tgsClassof2033 #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

08.01.2022 Our Dadirri Boarding House boys, Levi and Antwan were inspired by the Australian Dream documentary by Stan Grant and Adam Goodes. Chris Johnson, our Head of Dadirri Boarding House, captured this proud moment when they rode past the ‘Stand Up Adam Goodes’ mural over the weekend.

07.01.2022 Great to see boys back at their lockers and in a PE class on the Taffs Oval! #tgsLearningContinues #tgsLeadLearnBelong #trinitygrammarkew

05.01.2022 Today our Class of 2020 enjoyed lunch together, celebrating the commencement of the final stage of their VCE, the English Exam. We are confident this fine group of young men will excel in life after Trinity. They have taken all in their stride and adapted to the ever-changing environment. They are supportive and reassuring of each other, resilient and optimistic. Congratulation boys, we are enormously proud of you!... #ClassOf2020 #tgsLearnLeadBelong #TrinityGrammarKew

01.01.2022 Congratulations Jesse (Year 12) and Simone (Year 12, Ruyton) on being shortlisted for Top Designs 2020 - VCE Product Design and Technology. Being shortlisted for this prestigious award is a tremendous achievement, and very much deserved! Simone designed a heater stand, created to suit a seated person. The design is inspired by the parquetry floor of its intended room and constructed by laminating and bending plywood. Jesse designed and constructed a ‘Blood bowl pitch’ for the American Football inspired game, where two players play each other using miniature figurines, dice cards and counters. Jesse primarily used laser-cut fibreboard, overlayed with the castle façade to construct the piece, which incorporates score counters into the towers, and is easily disassembled for storage.
