23.01.2022 Yesterday marked the inaugural running of the ‘Tony Curtis Cup’ cardboard boat race regatta in the Curtis Aquatic Centre pool. The boys designed and built their craft during their after school Engineering Club to the rules and specifications provided by Mr Reuben Brennan, Mr Bernard Le Tessier and MR Tony Maxfield ('79). A highlight was Mr Tony Curtis ('56) attending to address the boys, parents and staff, and to start the race and present the event’s perpetual trophy. This is planned as an annual event open to the Junior School boys to promote the design and building facets of Design and Technology. Fifteen teams of three students entered their craft for the event and we congratulate them on their creativity and enthusiasm!

22.01.2022 Year 10 Outdoor Education students completed their 4-day expedition this week, based at Karridale in the South West. Students had the opportunity to go rock climbing and abseiling at Wilyabrup Natural Cliffs overlooking the ocean, which was a great opportunity for students to put into practice the skills they have learnt throughout the semester in class. Students also had the chance to go caving and complete a high ropes course. Overall with some interesting weather at the start of camp, it was a great success with many students pushing themselves to overcome the challenges they faced!

21.01.2022 Trinity recently hosted the 2020 'A Night to Shine Dinner' at Optus Stadium, where the Year 9 students had an opportunity to demonstrate their appreciation and respect for a significant female in their lives and share a special evening with them. As the culmination of the Becoming Men journey, it was a chance for our students to empower the important women in their lives and celebrate collectively as a group of young men the many achievements of women in and around our community.

13.01.2022 This week, the Year 7 students took part in the Brother Ollie Wheelchairs for Kids step-a-thon. This event is the major fundraiser for the Year 7 cohort throughout the year and challenges them to achieve as many steps as possible in the allocated time. The WACA Ground kindly provide access to the lower courses of its seating area to challenge the boys in achieving their goals. As counting continues, we hope to raise in excess $4,000 this year which would allow Wheelchairs for Kids to completely build around 17 new chairs. It was an inspiring sight to see the boys enthusiastically complete the challenge and have some fun in the process. The boys have learnt a valuable experience in what it means to support each other and the community around us. #tcspirit #MenForOthers

09.01.2022 This term, the Year 5s have been studying Christmas traditions in Italy as part of the Italian language program. Much of the focus of this has been around the food traditions and Signora Knapman made tiramisu with the students as part of their studies. The students learnt the ingredients in Italian and other vocabulary associated with the recipe. They had a great time preparing and eating the tiramisu. Bravo!

08.01.2022 On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we commemorate those who have died in service to Australia. Trinity College lost 72 Old Boys in World War I, 65 in World War II, 1 in the Korean War and 4 in the Vietnam War and we acknowledge their sacrifice. Lest we forget.

06.01.2022 Trinity was proud to be identified by ACARA for being in the top 5 Secondary Schools in Australia for Numeracy in terms of consistently outstanding results in the NAPLAN assessments. The College recently took part in ACARA’s case studies featuring 24 schools across Australia that have consistently achieved above average progress for numeracy, reading and writing. One of Trinity’s approaches to numeracy in the Middle School is journaling. Journaling reinforces the habits of reflective learning, emphasises process and serves as a starting point to review content in the lead-up to an assessment. 04.01.2022 TCEC are finishing the year on a great note, having been announced as the Winners of the ASCA National Sustainability Award for all of their sustainability endeavours here at the College. Members of the TCEC were very excited to be presented with a cheque for $5,000 from Mr Simon Reid (Principal of Freshwater Bay Primary School and Western Australian Representative for ASCA). This money will be used towards more sustainability projects in 2021. This presentation was most timely as the latest batch of TCEC members were presented with their TCEC badges for two years active service with the Committee at the final assembly of the year. These students have been helping to improve Sustainability around the College in many different ways. Well done to the TCEC!
