21.01.2022 We join in thanking God for the life of Alethea Hubley who passed away on the weekend. Alethea served in the Trinity College Queensland library from 2005 to 2015. She is remembered with thanksgiving for her dedication to helping students find the resources they needed for their studies and the excellent information space she developed in the library. Our condolences and prayers are with Alethea's family and friends.

20.01.2022 In this final chapel message for 2020, Dr Paul Jones explores the searching question of a scribe and Jesus' confronting response.

20.01.2022 1. Have you ever been asked to ‘prove it’? What was the context? 2. In your own words, what gives Jesus the right or authority to speak into your life? 3. What would make Jesus sigh or groan in exasperation today? Does our generation also wrongfully ask for a sign?

19.01.2022 Congratulations to our Manager of Student Services, Janet Nibbs, who graduated with her Masters of Education (Teacher Librarianship) degree from QUT (Queensland University of Technology) yesterday.

19.01.2022 In this sermon Rev Nigel Rogers focuses on the Apostle Paul’s stopover in Athens and the way this speaks to how we see truth, sin and love. Through this message we are invited to consider how we see the personal and public truth of God’s love in Jesus’ life, death and resurrection.

14.01.2022 If you have ever felt like there is this great divide between you and the apostlesthat the scriptures are just someone else's story or letterthen perhaps it is time to discuss 1 Thessalonians 1. This week in chapel, we hear from one of our students, Dylan Katthagen, as he briefly highlights the key ingredients of the most successful church in the New Testamentingredients that, if utilised today, can personally connect us to the apostles and their writingsmaking the blessings, the instructions, and the insights our very own.

14.01.2022 The final episode of this four part series on Hosea explores what it means to embody the word of God. What a profound invitation! If you're using these videos in small groups, go to our website for discussion questions: https://www.trinity.qld.edu.au/trinitylife/

14.01.2022 In Philippians 1:1416 Paul makes an astonishing claim: his imprisonment in Rome has not been an impediment to the gospel but rather has provided a paradoxical catalyst for gospel progress. Join John Frederick, Lecturer in New Testament and Greek as he explores how the locks and chains of the circumstances of life in a fallen world leave the resurrection God with only one option: to break in, break through, and break out in power to the watching world and Christians alike.

14.01.2022 What you see in any given situation may say more about you than it does about what is in front of you. That’s certainly true of the prophet, the boy and the king in this striking story about seeing from the Book of Kings. Listen as Dr Paul Jones unpacks this vital message for the college community.

13.01.2022 We will be going live on Facebook tonight from 7pm for Trinity Unplugged: What is the Spirit saying to the church?. The introduction and presentations from the three speakers will go for around an hour and then we will jump into a live Q&A session. If you have questions, please put them in the comments or email [email protected] We are looking forward to tonight and answering your questions.

12.01.2022 We know God is merciful and compassionate, slow to anger, and abounding in love, but what difference does that make when we hit rock bottom? In this sermon, Rachel Krohn considers how Jonah holds up a mirror to who we are and leadsus to a deeper recognition of who Jesus is.

12.01.2022 What has the movie "The Wedding Singer" got to do with Psalm 45? Join Erin Sessions (our adjunct currently lecturing in Christianity in History) as she takes us through this unusual Psalm.

11.01.2022 1.What two words would you use to describe Jesus’ character and temperament? (Does it surprise you to hear Jesus speak with blunt force?) 2. Can you think of a time when you have been called to responsibility and have compared yourself with others? What happened in that situation? 3. Cain is called to personal responsibility when he faces temptation (Gen 4.7). Peter is called to personal responsibility when he faces a new challenge (John 21.15-16). What habits or practices help you to look within and be responsible for ourselves when we are tempted to ‘look sideways’?

11.01.2022 In 2 Timothy 1:3-14, we learn that before Timothy was called to serve in the household of God he was a student and son in the household of Eunice and Loishis mother and grandmother. Oftentimes as Christians we feel like the everyday circumstances of life are a litany of semi-frequent failures, mundane attempts at excellence, and a multitude of missed opportunities. Join us as Dr John Frederick (Lecturer in New Testament and Greek at Trinity College Queensland) highlights the biblical principle that it is actually in the midst of the constancy of the commonplace that God faithfully works to do extraordinary things.

05.01.2022 The sermon for this week is taken from Mark 1:9-11 and draws us into considering what scripts or narratives shape our lives. Through this message Simon Gomersall raises key formative questions regarding the impact unhelpful scripts or narratives can have on the way we understand ourselves, God and others. In so doing Simon leads us into acknowledging the freedom that we have in Christ to be reconciled with God’s truth rather than the erroneous deceptions of harmful messaging conveyed by others.

01.01.2022 1. On a scale of 1 to 10, how judgmental are you? (where 1 means you have never made a negative judgment about another person, and 10 means that right now you are angrily judging whoever wrote this question!) Explain your answer. 2. How do you balance these two things: (a) making good judgments in daily life, while (b) not being judgmental of other people whose values and habits may be different from your own? How do you avoid double-standards/ hypocrisy? 3. How do you feel about the call to be real with ourselves and totally honest about our own shortcomings? Does your grasp of the gospel make this any easier?
