24.01.2022 The importance for lawyers to monitor their mental health has been more critical than ever during the Covid-19 pandemic given the economic uncertainty and social isolation many lawyers have had to experience in recent months. The ACT Law Society has a number of resources available to its members to assist in managing their mental health needs, including a 24 hour counselling service through their partner Acacia Connection. Acacia provides confidential counselling services to... people who approach them and identify themselves as members of the ACT Law Society or an immediate family member. The program involves short term counselling of up to three hours counselling per member per year. If you, or someone you know, would benefit from this service, you can make contact with Acacia at the following link: http://www.acaciaconnection.com/

15.01.2022 Can a purchaser of land rely only on what is disclosed on the current certificate of title? Or are they bound to make inquiries and searches beyond what is notified on the certificate? Is a purchaser of land required to examine historical certificates of tile in search of signs that past owners have entered into restrictive covenants burdening the land? The High Court has resolved these questions last week in Deguisa v Lynn, click here to learn more: https://trinitylaw.com.au/new-high-court-judgment-on-purch/
