22.01.2022 A live version of a recent piece of mine with Tripataka featuring Daryl Pratt @ Jazz Lab last year. It was great to play and hang with with Daryl Pratt for tha...t weekend. We are working on mixing a studio recording of this currently. This piece is a tribute to my dear friend from Berlin (and stellar saxophonist) Christof Greise. For those of you into numbers, the primary groove is a 14/8 split into 9/8 + 9 over 5/8. A modal opening and close (Lydian Dominant) with a blend of Coltrane and Inner Urge changes in the central parts of the piece. The central section is built around a korvai structure featuring metric modulation (gati bedham) in the final cadence building from 5:5 through to 9:5.
