25.01.2022 Our CAPE YORK trip starts here!!! THE LIONS DEN HOTEL Over the next few weeks we'll be taking you with us by showing you all the places we visit and what we get up to. Get keen because it's been a mental trip!!... 1st Stop - THE LIONS DEN Located at the Northern end of the Bloomfield track is this Iconic Pub and Campground. - It cost us $30 a night to stay out the back. There is showers and toilets, powered sites if you need them and heaps of grass. - Amazing swimming hole just behind the campground which is perfect to cool down and wash off with a cold tin -The Pub has a great vibe, does a mean pizza & the tap beers are frosty!! A night here is a must on your way up the Cape.. Next up - Cooktown..... Cheers guys. Any questions drop them below in the comments.

24.01.2022 Next camp - HANN CROSSING in the Lakefield National Park Loved this one!! We ended up going the back way up the Cape as we had heard road conditions on the PDR were really rough. And we are so glad we did!! We ended up camping here at Hann Crossing. $27 night to park up on the cliff overlooking this lagoon full of Crocs and Barra. ... It was great to watch the crocs yellow eyes at night as they floated past checking us out! Campfire steaks for dinner and starry nights by the fire made this camp a highlight of our Cape trip. Next camp - Coen River

22.01.2022 Natural infinity pool SAVE THIS and go! What an unreal day we had + you can take a squiz on stories, but over the edge here was an amazing waterfall. Only an hour from Cairns and well worth the drive over the Kuranda range. Seriously so beautiful and a day well spent
21.01.2022 A week chillin at this beautiful spot on the Gold Coast! Totally relaxing and we spent our days by the beach here, not far from our caravan Can’t say I love all the sand in our bedding though Wicked spot if you’re passing through the Goldie!

21.01.2022 How’s this for a crackin spot! We forgot how many gems were on the NSW coast! Mid week on the NSW coast has been sweet and the weekends are so busy!! This camp is Solitary Islands Resort, Wooli and there is heaps to explore around the area. Beaches, inlets surfing, fishing Would love to know your favourite camps on the way down the coast please!?

We are having a killer time here at The Temple Cape York Magic weather, damn good people and these views are incredible If you caught our stories today it was one to remember. Dirt bikes and Blokart’s fangin down Chilli Beach... Thanks Jayson & Katie for organising this, you guys are some of the best people we’ve met and we can now call mates!
19.01.2022 What a spot to park it! We’ve spent the most amazing 11 nights here so far and it’s been such a good base to explore. Isn’t that water a tease. Def no swimming here as there is a croc we have seen almost every day The Boat Club Pub is next door with a fantastic playground that all the camp kids have been hangin out at. ... Grassy sites, power & water and only 30 seconds to the boat ramp - Justin’s in paradise! We all are! See more

18.01.2022 We made it! And it was fun It started with a campsite by the creek with plenty of swimming and finished on the deck with a few beers. Overlooking the playground $30 to camp and the pizza’s are wicked. SAVE this one if you’re planning to head to Cape York. Swipe for one from THREE years ago. @ Lions Den Hotel
16.01.2022 ELIM BEACH CAMPING & The Coloured Sands.... Sort of.... Our next stop north is just over an hour away from Cooktown and right on the beach. You can explore the Coloured sands from here...IF YOU GET THE TIDES RIGHT You have to drive down the beach on an outgoing tide to be sure you won't get stuck or swamped by the tide... (we got the tides wrong and luckily we didn't try and make the trek down as the water started coming in as we waited at the beach access to make sur...e...) It was quite busy so we camped back from the beach in a shady little spot for the night. You can have campfires here and its also pet friendly if you have dogs with you. It was $20 a night for us to stay.. Next stop - Hann Crossing in the Lakefield National Park

It becomes an addiction and you’ll long for that magic feeling that you get in the remote parts of Australia It’s only been 12 days since we left Cape York and we are longing to be back!

10.01.2022 Next stop on our way north is Cooktown.. Love this town, we always stop in at the holiday park for a few nights so the kids can have a swim in the pool. A very tropical feel here and it’s a lush oasis in such a dry hot place like Cooktown. We took the rooftop tinny up the river a few times with the kids and found some jacks and bream which was fun. No big Barra which was what the boys were after New to Cooktown is a great foreshore esplanade and waterpark which is wel...l worth a visit This is your last chance to stock up on a few beers and lots of groceries so be sure to load up at the IGA before you keep going north. There is also a free camp here at the racecourse as well. We checked it out for a night, good if your looking for a quick stop over! Next Stop - Elim Beach

08.01.2022 Although I’m taking a little nap here on this waterfall, I can assure you, Fruit Bat Falls is sensational. It is an iconic landmark of the Cape and definitely shouldn’t be missed. Tip: Fruit Bat Falls, Elliott Falls and Twin Falls are all within close proximity. We decided to do Fruit Bat on the way up and stopped in at Twin & Elliott Falls on the way down. Break up your waterfalls - it gives you something to look forward to while doing all those corrugations on the way bac...k down. FYI: we unhitched at Fruit Bat and drove the few km to Elliott and Twin. The track to get there is part of the OTT (old telegraph track) and a bit sketchy and rough when we went through. 07.01.2022 Moreton Telegraph Station - Cape York What a great spot to pull up for the night. A little Oasis of shade & green grass amongst the harsh tracks and red dirt up here. This is a paid campground that offers showers, toilets, washing machine and a small shop attached to reception. Make sure you go for a walk along the river and flick a few lures, there is lots of photos up at reception of good barra that have been caught by other travellers. ... We swam in the shallows of the river just beside the campground, such a good way to wash away the days sweat and dust!! Put this one on your Cape Itinerary, we loved it
07.01.2022 Our first taste of Cape Arnhem (or Cape Almond as the kids call it) and woweeeee. The most spectacular landscapes and a great track to get there with plenty of new memories (aka)pinstripes on the car A bush track lead us to the ocean and a drive along the beach to our campsite. 06.01.2022 Best time of the year, a Christmas movie + our first matching pj’s tradition! It took some major bribery to get Justin into them, but the man will do anything for his kids (see stories)! We are all organised for presents but if your not, I’ve added a gift guide for the young traveller in our stories. ... Is anyone else doing Xmas pj’s? My sister ordered ours and she got me a youth size nightie and not a women’s So, mine is kinda short

I don’t go out in the tinny all that much, but when Justin comes home and says I’ve found a fishing hole I get on it, because I’m usually guaranteed a fish We cooked this Cod on the fire at the beach and it was such an amazing day/evening. What an absolute thrill it was to catch this bad boy

02.01.2022 Don’t miss this one! Love it when we have no expectations of a campsite and literally stumble on a paradise like this one! Station Creek Campground is in the Yuraygir National Park and yep it’s that blue! We spent the arvo floating down the creek several times and jumping out of trees. Best part is, this is only 100m walk back to our caravan

01.01.2022 Next Camp on our way up the Cape!! The Coen River Only a few km's north of Coen there are quite a few spots to pull up and free camp. This spot at "The Bend" was our pick Great spot to cool off with a beer and a swim with nice clear, croc free water.. There is a huge amount of space for camping, and if your not towing you could drive across the river and park up on the sandy river bed. ... 01.01.2022 OUR FAVOURITE CAMPSITE IN CAPE YORK.... Tag a mate who's doing the Cape next year!! This is Alau Beach campground and it gets the top spot after our latest Cape York trip with the caravan in tow. This little campground only a few minutes from Bamaga had us absolute beach front with a power, water and a beach shack with a rough kitchen setup. There's even an inground pool here which the kids absolutely loved!! ... We spent a week here and loved it!! Fishing, exploring, relaxing everyday. HOT TIP - There is a local cafe in Umagico that does espresso coffee and it's really good. We drove up every morning to get our fix. It's the only good coffee on the cape!!!
