16.01.2022 Children are probably seeing and hearing a lot about coronavirus (COVID-19) on TV, radio, and social media, as well as from other people. Talking with your child about coronavirus (COVID-19) can help your child understand and cope with what’s going on. The Raising Children’s Network advise parents to check-in with their children: first, find out what your child knows about the virus and if they have any questions. Next, use a calm, reassuring tone to explain coronavirus (COVI...D-19), sticking to the facts in a way your child can understand. Finally, ask your child how they are feeling and listen to what they say. You can ask what they need to feel better, and share your own feelings and how you cope with them. For example: It can be scary not knowing what’s going to happen with the virus. Scientists all over the world are working hard to find a vaccine and treatment. In Australia, we have good hospitals, doctors and nurses who can look after us. The RCN website also has information on coronavirus (COVID-19) symptoms, treatment and management, preventative action, and reliable information sources go to: https://raisingchildren.net.au//coronavirus-and-children-i raisingchildren.net.au See more
