22.01.2022 There's a binary choice with every post to social media: - are you part of the problem or - are you part of the solution? Does your post make the world a better place? That old measure of 'is it nice, is it kind and is it necessary' is a goodie (origin Bernard Meltzer). It is easy to throw vitriole into the universe, or cast doubt on the truth, if you don't have to see the person you are talking to. I'd add 'would you say that to your mother's face?' and 'would you say that t...o a stranger on the street?' as two further measures of whether you should throw your comment out to the world. Social media can be a powerful force for good. It can also be a crippler, and a platform for danger. Think before you post. And think before you comment. Because you, like everyone else with access to the internet, have more power than you realise. #Postforgood See more

11.01.2022 Have you added a budget to your annual expenditure called 'Miscellaneous donations'? I've just realised that this is one of the expenditures each year that gives me the most satisfaction. The walk someone is doing to support medical research; the movie someone's making for social justice; the community radio station that didn't get their funding. Having a small pool of dollars available is so important for ongoing support of Triple Wins. Yesterday it was this amazing community radio station which serves 17 languages and a whole lot of worthy truth-telling. They recently lost their regular grant through no fault of their own.
