20.01.2022 Hello beautiful souls. As most of you already know, I once suffered with Crohn's Disease and that journey made me incredibly passionate about Natural and Holistic Medicine. I was recently interviewed for a podcast by an amazing woman called Lesli Williams on her network called Miracle Healings. In this podcast I speak about my journey and the driving force behind what made me choose to step away from conventional medicine for my chronic illness and how I am now the healthi...est I have ever been in my life. I also encountered a near death experience and speak about this in detail here. 07.01.2022 Hi everyone, as many of you may know, I am a huge advocate for knowledge when it comes to our own health. Something that keeps coming up when I am treating clients, is poor immunity as a result of prolonged antibiotic use. Issues such as longer infection time, inflammation, systemic candida (thrush) and poor gut health. 03.01.2022 Do you practice mindful eating? I know that I always bang on about the importance of good nutrition, and this is true but without a decent ritual surrounding meal times it can become increasingly difficult to digest and assimilate the nutrients that we put into our bodies... Some ways to know if you are suffering from poor digestion are from symptoms such as, heart burn, belching, bloating, passing gas, undigested food in stools, and cramping. ... So what steps can be taken to ensure that we are getting the very best from our meals? 1. Slow down!! If we are rushing around and shovelling food into our mouths it is likely that our nervous system is in fight or flight mode. When we are pumped full of adrenaline our bodies cannot digest food because the blood flow is targeting our extremities and not our stomachs. Take 5 minutes to sit down and take some deep cleansing breathes to help your nervous system to switch to rest and digest mode. 2. Eating food is all about the senses... when you have time, create a meal that looks aesthetically pleasing. This triggers hormones in your body that increase the feeling of hunger. The same works for smells, yummy smelling foods, help to trigger the hormones that aid in digestion. 3. Only drink small sips of water at meal times. In Ayurvedic medicine thru say that too much fluid will put out the digestive fire avoid large quantities for at least 30 minutes either side of meals. The same goes for caffeine as this inhibits the absorption of nutrients especially iron. I hope that you found this helpful. 02.01.2022 Allow me to re- introduce myself. My name is Heather I am 36 years old and I am a qualified naturopath, and holistic health coach. My health journey began 10 years ago when I was diagnosed with Crohns Disease, an autoimmune condition that I was told was incurable and that the only option was to manage the condition with medication, when I received this diagnosis something within me said, no fucking way, my intuition told me that there had to be another way and this is when... I went on a journey of self-discovery, studied my degree and ultimately healed myself from a supposedly incurable condition. What is my philosophy? My philosophy is that the body can heal from absolutely anything provided that is has the right conditions in order to do so. this includes our environment, friends, family, our living space and place of work. What we consume, which includes eating a nutritious diet away from processed foods and what we watch on TV or listen to on the radio, as this can have an effect on our perception of reality, which in turn has a direct impact on our internal systems. Is our reality based on love or fear? Healing begins when we take responsibility for our health, when we transform our story from victim to warrior, we take the power back and begin our journey to ultimate health. There is no magic pill when it comes to healing from a chronic illness, we are all individuals and therefore we should have healthcare that treats us as such, not a one size fits all. I believe that knowledge is power, and that we are entitled to be educated about our bodies and our health. I believe that optimal health comes only from healing mind body and spirit.
