25.01.2022 Struggling to find the motivation to exercise, or finding the time to do as much exercise as you'd like to do? Consider the health benefits that incidental activity or exercise offers. Most of us know the importance of getting enough exercise but the fact is many of us just aren't getting enough. Enter incidental exercise! It's really just any activity that isn't a planned, structured exercise session, that raises the heart rate and gets us puffing a bit. So what can you do?... Take the stairs instead of the lift, park a little further away for work or at the shops. If you use a ride-on lawnmower try using a manual mower. You don’t have to do it every either; sometimes we just don't have time to park further away or use the manual mower. Instead you can mix it up a bit and do this things when you can. Every extra bit of physical activity we do helps to prevent many chronic diseases from diabetes, to heart disease , and some cancers. What incidental exercise do you try and do through the week? #adenomyosis#chronicpain#chronicillness#endometriosis#endo#endostrong#endowarrior#invisibleillness#pcos#polycysticovariansyndrome#spoonie#fibromyalgia#womenshealth#pelvicfloor#pelvicfloorexercises#pelvicfloorhealth#incontinence#prolapse#pelvicorganprolapse#mentalhealth#mentalillness#fitwomen#fitmom#exerciseismedicine#exercisephysiology#pregancy#love#motherhood#immunesystem#immunehealth
19.01.2022 Do you have endometriosis? Talk with your GP. Meet with an exercise physiologist. Not finding the help you need? Reach out to groups and organisations like @endometriosisaustralia and @qendo for more support options and to be able to meet and talk with other women who have experienced, or are going through, the same situations. #adenomyosis#chronicpain#chronicillness#endometriosis#endo#endostrong#endowarrior#invisibleillness#pcos#polycysticovariansyndrome#spoonie#fibromyalgia#womenshealth#pelvicfloor#pelvicfloorexercises#pelvicfloorhealth#incontinence#prolapse#pelvicorganprolapse#mentalhealth#mentalillness#fitwomen#fitmom#exerciseismedicine#exercisephysiology#pregancy#love#motherhood#immunesystem#immunehealth
17.01.2022 Hypertension (HTN) is when your blood pressure (BP) is high and is known as the silent killer because damage can be done for years without any symptoms. It is very common and so people often don't appreciate the seriousness of the condition. If you have HTN it's not okay. In many cases when a person is on hypertension medication their blood pressure is normal and so may thinking that their BP is okay. Their BP is within normal limits because the medication is doing its job. ...If this is you, your BP is not normal. The good news is changes to your lifestyle, namely diet and exercise, can have significant positive effects. A conversation with your GP or an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can steer you in the right direction to make life changing improvements to your health. #adenomyosis#chronicpain#chronicillness#endometriosis#endo#endostrong#endowarrior#invisibleillness#pcos#polycysticovariansyndrome#spoonie#fibromyalgia#womenshealth#pelvicfloor#pelvicfloorexercises#pelvicfloorhealth#incontinence#prolapse#pelvicorganprolapse#mentalhealth#mentalillness#fitwomen#fitmom#exerciseismedicine#exercisephysiology#pregancy#love#motherhood#immunesystem#immunehealth
15.01.2022 How can being overweight lead to type 2 diabetes? Being consistently overweight, or having a weight that is steadily increasing, can lead to insulin resistance, higher blood insulin levels (hyperinsulinemia), and a higher rate of beta cell function (this isn'ta good thing!); these are cells in the pancreas responsible for producing insulin. Insulin resistance is when the cells in your body no longer respond to insulin in the normal way. As a result, glucose is not able to be... taken into the cells properly and so blood glucose and insulin levels increase. With an increase in blood glucose, the beta cells in the pancreas work extra hard to produce more insulin to control the glucose, but the insulin isn't doing its job so blood insulin levels increase. Soon, the pancreas ceases to function normally, and this is where the development of type 2 diabetes occurs. Not such a big deal? The long term complications sure are; kidney disease, damage to the blood vessels in the eyes, feet and nerve complications leading to amputation, heart damage. Talk to your GP and or an Accredited Exercise Physiologist to learn more about how simple exercise can improve your condition, or your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. #adenomyosis#chronicpain #chronicillness#endometriosis#endo #endostrong#endowarrior #invisibleillness#pcos #polycysticovariansyndrome#spoonie #fibromyalgia#womenshealth #pelvicfloor#pelvicfloorexercises #pelvicfloorhealth#incontinence #prolapse#pelvicorganprolapse #mentalhealth#mentalillness #fitwomen#fitmom #exerciseismedicine #exercisephysiology#pregancy#immunehealth #diabetes #type2diabetes #weightlossjourney
10.01.2022 Adenimyosis: - Occurs when endometrial tissue grows into the wall of the uterus - Symptoms include heavy periods (menorrhagia), painful periods (dysmenorrhea), painful sexual intercourse (dyspareunia), and pelvic pain. ... The benefits of exercise in relieving symptoms are secondary but very important. That means, exercise is not a prevention (that would be a primary prevention) but aims to help reduce the impact. Adenomyosis has been linked to high levels of oestrogen and inflammation. Exercise is a very powerful tool in reducing both oestrogen and inflammation. Benefits to Adenomyosis aside, exercise is second to none in helping to protect us from the number 1 cause of death globally, heart disease. - Start slowly; walking is a great start if new to exercise - Exercise within your limits, and modify activity to suit how you are feeling in that moment - Try and do something, anything, every single day If you don’t know where to start, or want to learn more about how exercise helps, or want a more developed/advanced program, an Accredited Exercise Physiologist can help you get started. #adenomyosis #chronicpain #chronicillness #endometriosis #endo #endostrong #endowarrior #invisibleillness #pcos #polycysticovariansyndrome #spoonie #fibromyalgia #womenshealth #pelvicfloor #pelvicfloorexercises #pelvicfloorhealth #incontinence #prolapse #pelvicorganprolapse #mentalhealth #mentalillness #fitwomen #fitmom #exerciseismedicine #exercisephysiology #pregancy #love #motherhood #immunesystem #immunehealth
