25.01.2022 Sunday vibes #lazysundayafternoon #pugnaps #sundaymotivation
23.01.2022 Is the weekend over already? What's something you're looking forward to this week? I can't wait for the sunny days! It's meant to hit 17 degrees on Friday I can't wait!
22.01.2022 Bringing a Puppy Home Probably one of the most exciting events! And although we are super excited, our puppy is likely to be feeling a little overwhelmed, scared and missing their siblings. So there are a few things you should aim for in the first 24-48 hours, in order to make it as easy as possible, and to also set your puppy up right.... Set up a safe space with everything they need. This includes a crate, a small contained play area, food, water and somewhere to wee, and a few key toys. Give your puppy space and allow them to explore slowly, try not to crowd them, or play pass the puppy. This can stress them out. Instead have the family sit on the ground with some treats, and allow puppy to come to you as they are feeling up to it. Toileting; get them out to toilet OFTEN. Like every hour, after eating, drinking, playing or sleeping. And do not let your puppy run about the house unsupervised! We want to make sure we’re setting them up for success, and unsupervised adventures lead to accidents or chewed household items. Sleep; puppies need 18-20 hours a day! This is huge and it is incredibly important to helping your puppy be the best they can. I did the 1 hour rule. So Taco would be up for a max of 1 hour, and in that time I would play, train, toilet, allow to explore. Then I would put her in her crate for a sleep. This will allow your puppy to get the sleep they need, but also help your crate training. It is important that you start to utilise your crate for all naps, even during the day, so your puppy is fully crate trained. (It’s also a great way to be about to get things done around the house). Doing these simple things will help your puppy settle in comfortably, gain confidence and set you up to have less puppy problems! 22.01.2022 Spring time means allergy season for a lot of people, but did you know that dogs can have allergies too? Like humans they can have reactions to different plants, grasses and of course things like stings from ! With the warmer weather fleas are also more present and your dog can have a reaction to these too. Sometimes these allergies can present in whole body rashes, itchiness, lumps, and gunky eyes.... So what can you do? Bathing with an oatmeal or skin specific shampoo can help relieve itchy skin. Keeping up to date with parasite prevention to help keep those pests away. Washing gunk away with warm water on a cloth to help prevent build up. And for severe allergies you can get antihistamines, just like humans. It's best to go see your vet to discuss what's appropriate and dosage etc. Do you or your dog have allergies? And what do you do to help/prevent it? I'm super lucky and have no allergies, but this is Taco's first spring/summer so I'll have to keep a close eye on her!
22.01.2022 With (fingers crossed) not too many weeks of lockdown left, how have you been coping? Have you found a good routine for your and your dog? Are you practicing your crate training, and independence/alone time, for when you go back go work again? Taco and I are working on her being outside for longer periods of time, both when I'm home and not. Plus being in her crate both when I'm home and not.... And I'm making more effort with our tie up exercise too! See more
21.01.2022 Friday funday!
20.01.2022 Only 3 more sleeps until in person classes are back! It's not too late to join! We've got everything from puppy school, to adult beginner classes, life skills for those who want to improve their skills and focus around other dogs and have a supervised play, and we've even got a tricks class!
20.01.2022 Unfortunately yesterday's covid plan did not pan out the way we'd like. I'd had high hopes that we'd be able to open in person classes up again, even with just 5-10 people, but it looks like it'll still be a little while before that happens. Don't worry though, online classes will be continuing! ... We've got a new Puppy School class starting this Saturday at 11am. Plus our Life Skills & Tricks classes will all continue. Plus Private sessions are still available and the Pawsome sessions will continue to run as normal. Thank You for all your support throughout this, keep safe and we'll keep our fingers crossed that we'll move to the next stage quickly. Tristen xx
19.01.2022 Even being in lockdown there are still so many things you can be doing to socialise your puppy! Sounds - you can socialise to sounds in the comfort of your home! I use the @soundproofpuppytraining app, to get my puppy used to a HUGE variety of sounds. Environments - take your puppy to different environments, to socialise to the different sounds, surfaces, smells, traffic etc.... People - pick environments where you might see some different people. It's the perfect time because everyone has to give your space so your puppy can adjust at their pace without strangers trying to touch them! What are you going to socialise your dog to today? Swipe for a list of ideas you can socialise to! @ Bendigo, Victoria
18.01.2022 It's Saturday! And it's going to be a lovely day! I've got a morning of online classes & then Taco & I are going to find somewhere fun to run, and probably play in puddles. What are you getting up to?
18.01.2022 Sending out all the love to all the doggos who support and love us Anyone else giving their pup an extra special treat today? Taco got a tuna and broccoli muffin

17.01.2022 Something very exciting is coming this week! I can't wait to tell you!
16.01.2022 Last day before lockdown 2.0 How's everyone feeling? What are you looking forward to and what will you miss the most? For me, this one came hard because I was just in a space of feeling confident and proud of where I'd gotten my little biz to.... I'd already done my lesson plans all the way to Christmas break! keen as beans! (Also Yes I plan to actually take Christmas off this year ). But even though it hit hard, after the initial cry, I actually feel so much better and in control. This time I know I can do it! I know online classes work and are actually GREAT! I am so much better set up to handle lockdown this time, and that makes me feel so much better about it all. I'll miss seeing people in person, but I've also only had 1 day off in 12 weeks, so I'm keen for a slower pace! How about you? Xx
15.01.2022 Online Classes Are you working from home and trying to come up with things to entertain your dog? Or looking for some accountability with your dog training? Online Classes are the perfect way to keep up with your training while at home!... We have Puppy School, Life Skills & Tricks classes all running via zoom! Come join us, while we enrich our dogs lives! DM me to book in!
15.01.2022 Socialisation Socialisation is when your puppy is learning to respond, behave and relate appropriately to everything they may experience in life. When you are proactively socialing your puppy, you need to remember that your puppy needs to socialise to people, kids, moving objects, sounds and environments. Anything they may come in contact with throughout life.... Want a dog who doesn't bark and chase the mop...socialise and show your dog how you would like them to behave instead! Sometimes that might mean you work on something appropriate for your lifestyle, ie if you spend time out on boats, you're going to want to socialise to that environment, the sounds, plus the actual boat and water! And maybe even a life jacket! So although many new puppy owners believe socialising is dogs playing with other dogs, that is only a very small part, remember when you get a puppy their prime socialization period is between 3-16 weeks, so make the most of that time and practice socialising to a couple of things a day!
14.01.2022 Pretty sure I'm as excited as this dog is about in person classes going back! From the 26th September the classes we have starting back: Puppy School Life Skills... Adult beginner Tricks There will be limited spaces available,so get in quick! Private sessions & Pawsome Sessions are continuing as normal xx
12.01.2022 Morning guys, So going into stage 3 again, looks like no more in person classes, everyone currently in classes will have a smooth change over into zoom classes, same time & day as you currently are. For those signed up for the next rounds we will also be going straight to online.... But don't worry, online classes are great! Your dogs learn easier with less distractions, you can wear your pjs, there is more flexability if you miss a class, PLUS you join an exclusive FB page where all the skills are filmed so you can go back at anytime to refresh. And you can show your progress and ask any questions at anytime! In regards to Pawsome Sessions. I'm waiting on more details. Keeping my fingers crossed that I will still be able to continue those as I did last time. I've gotta say 2.0 has hit hard, I love my job so much and doing it makes me so happy. I love talking to all of you and helping you work with your dogs to really fit with you. So much love and thanks for all your support over this crazy year so far! Love Tristen
11.01.2022 Toys What’s your dogs favourite toy? Why do you think that is? Is it because of a breed trait? Or because you use it with them all the time?... Toys are a great way to meet your dogs needs and to build your bond with your dog. Plus a good game is always fun for both of you & can be used to distract from things your dog may not be too keen on. Taco’s favourite to use with me is tug or fetch (although she only started to enjoy fetch at about 6 months) and on her own she likes the toys that crinkle & have good chewing texture. #dogtoyseverywhere #dogenrichment #retrieversdaily #solvingdogproblems #dogsocialization #bondingwithyourdog #bendigopuppyschool #bendigosmallbusiness
