19.01.2022 Marshall JCM800 Lead - the two channel JCM800 Lead with reverb. Quite different circuitry from the regular curcuit. A really old one and needed an overhaul. My client traveled all the way from Dunsborough to get me to fix this !!! 18.01.2022 Vox AC30/6TB Korg era. JJ ECC83S rebranded as Mesa tubes shorted out and blew a resistor. Also noticed that someone replaced the wirewound cathode resistor. Was soldered ONTO the copper pads but not THROUGH it - it broke due to prolonged vibration. In a bid to clean scratchy pots, he even sprayed grease all over the pots and faceplate that it attracted grime and dust. Cartridge fuses like all other components can deteriorate with time. They are not airtight and can be exposed to the elements. So sometimes, they can blow with no reason. 04.01.2022 Fender printed circuit board amps have a common problem on the jacks (eg. Input, Preamp Out, Power In, etc). The jacks are machine inserted onto the printed circuit board and wave soldered during PCB manufacturing. Unfortunately, they are not flush to the board and leaves some slack. When the nut comes off loose, there is wiggle room and the solder joints crack after repeated abuse. 03.01.2022 Horrific Mingda MC-2A3 audiophile preamp mod !!! Eager mod by some amp hack, resulting in an UNBALANCED STEREO IMAGE !!! He couldn't troubleshoot it and sold to my client who only wised up after I figured out that one of the amp stages in the Left channel was soldered to the wrong junction. The amp stage couldn't bias up correctly resulting in a weaker output on the Left channel. BTW, these amps despite the 2A3 tube namesake don't use it in any of its signal amplification stages. The tube is used only in the power supply to regulate the voltage rails. It's matched with EL34, with a slightly different touch to the reverb and other parts of the circuitry.
