G'day, new order just arrived - stock of all models now available - including Lithium compatible versions.... The Aussie dollar is tanking and is even worse on Paypal, which is how I pay for my stock from the US. In December the AUD was 0.66 USD........now it's down to 0.59.... nearly 12% less! 21.01.2022 2 Sold - 1 left SPECIAL - 3 only used Trollbridge 12X24 units in "as new" condition reduced from $265 to $150 each. First in best dressed - call to secure one - 0401 988 139.... These units were all used on one customer's boat. His Motorguide trolling motor was having issues so the 1st Trollbridge was replaced but did not sort the problem. Another modified Trollbridge was specially made by the US Manufacturer to try and rectify the Motorguide problem with no success. As a result, I now have 3 x 2nd hand units for sale. All have been bench tested and work perfectly. All 3 come with the Manufacturer's conditional lifetime warranty. 17.01.2022 Lithium Batteries. Post 1. I thought I would do a post on Lithium Batteries - in particular Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) I've been researching these for a couple of years now with the aim of starting to stock them. What I found is that the high end reputable brands tend to live up to all their expectations but are Bloody expensive.... The more affordable mid range brands are a mixed bag with some meeting their specs and some falling short. The cheaper ones are basically not worth considering. Most don't achieve their specs with some being outright dodgy! There are plenty of videos on YouTube that cover all these points. The longevity of all of them is a bit of an unknown but it seems the better ones do meet their warranty specifications. So given the performance and weight benefits of LiFePO4, how do you decide where to spend your money?? It's a tough one! This led me to have a crack at building a couple myself and test them out. I'm building 2 to use as prototypes in my Landcruiser. One will be a semi-portable 280AH that will be the main power source and run all the 12 volt accessories in the vehicle. It will just be in a basic battery box with dual anderson outlets so it can be plugged into a central power distribution board. The 2nd will be a smaller portable 120AH one for use around the campsite to power lights, small fridge, USB devices etc. This will be a bit different because I'm building it in a small 6 pack Esky. Very Cool......haha. Both will be able to be charged via the Alternator, Solar and 240 Volts. While I was waiting for all the components to come from China, I came across some Calb 100AH cells so made a basic prototype to start with. I'm just using this as general back up battery and it's performing really well. I've attached a few pics of where I'm up to on each one. I'll do more posts as I progress.
