25.01.2022 Opening at 11an today due to family sporting commitments. Apologies for late notice

25.01.2022 We will be closed this Saturday the 14th of April, apologies for any inconvenience caused!

24.01.2022 Below is why I will never, ever, recommend Lenovo products at all: Notice the word preinstalled. Lenovo products are a security risk in every sense of the word security. I will only ever endorse Dell infrastructure and Symantec / Norton Antivirus. Too much technology is brought in to Australia without a thorough IT security check and the photos proves it. The Australian Government is using Lenovo products so that just goes to tell you something more about our government!

24.01.2022 Closed this Saturday 28/7/18 - Apologies for the inconvenience. I can do a few jobs on late Sunday afternoon if anything urgent is need for next week. Cheers!

23.01.2022 Attention: Trooper IT Services will be CLOSED from Tuesday, 24th April to 29th April for ANZAC Day commitments and annual leave. All repair services will be unavailable during this time. Please fell free to contact me for urgent matters or bookings, which can be done online, but if I dont not respond to your requests immediately do forgive me, but I will get to them as soon as I can.

23.01.2022 New iOS 11.3 Battery Health feature - Battery replacements for most iphones only takes around 15mins to replace - In iOS 11.3 there is a new Battery Health settings so you can check the health of your iPhone battery, simply go to Settings->Battery->Battery Health (beta). Anecdotally, if you send your phone into an Apple Service Agent, if the technician finds that your battery is at 80% or less of its full charge capacity the technician will replace your battery. Whilst most ...of us will wait for the battery to almost completely die, there is a minor risk of a battery swelling and putting unnecessary stress on your phone screen if you leave the battery in the device plus, the excessive charging of your phone increases the chance of charging IC chip failure. So if you have iOS 11.3 take a look at the new Battery Health feature if you have any doubt about your battery life feel free to drop in to Trooper IT Services for a new battery if necessary.

21.01.2022 Just a heads-up: This is a notice from Foxtel but this would apply to other WiFi equipment.... International WiFi Vulnerability: You may have heard news lately surrounding KRACK, a recently discovered security vulnerability that affects WiFi networks. The vulnerability extends world-wide and can impact a range of consumer devices when they are connected to a wireless (WiFi) network. The latest reports suggest that this vulnerability has not yet been exploited by hackers; ho...wever, Foxtel is taking the situation very seriously and we are working with our device manufacturers to determine if any of the Foxtel supplied equipment (set top boxes, WiFi modems) is susceptible. If we discover a risk we will remotely update our devices ASAP to re-secure them. The KRACK vulnerability requires a potential hacker to be within range of the WiFi network, which reduces the possibility of attack; however, Foxtel suggests that customers take appropriate steps to update the software of all of their wireless devices (PCs/ Laptops, tablets, mobile phones, games consoles, etc.) as many technology providers have already begun releasing patches.

16.01.2022 Open Today until 12:30pm :)

15.01.2022 Attention - Closing down - Please read: It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that Trooper IT Services Pty Ltd will be closing for new business indefinitely from 12:30pm 15 September 2018. I sincerely thank everyone that has supported my business over the years. It has been challenging yet rewarding as this was the first business I have started from the ground up. If you have any devices in the store they will need to be collected by 12:30pm 22 September 2018 (I wi...ll be still in the store packing up next week). Nonetheless I will call everyone that has a current repair job to come in and collect your device. We are still legally trading for all outstanding work, debts and warranty claims ( just no new business after the 15 Sept. 18) so please feel free to contact me regarding any of these issues. I may re-open for device repairs once get a gauge on the repair costs of the new iPhones, but from what I understand now, and considering that I strongly maintain my stance on not fitting fake/counterfeit Apple screens and parts, the original iPhone and iPad screens are looking quite expensive to say the least. Yours sincerely, David Smith Managing Director

12.01.2022 Closed all day today (Friday, 20th April). We are open on Saturday 21st April 8:30-12:30 as usual. Sorry for any inconvenience.

12.01.2022 For those who recall, on our services agreement form we have always asked if your device warranty is/might be covered under Apples manufacturers warranty, well this is why we had to ask that (see article). Finally, the ACCC have ruled that, "Apples representations led customers to believe theyd be denied a remedy for their faulty device because they used a third party repairer. "The court declared the mere fact that an iPhone or iPad had been repaired by someone other t...han Apple did not, and could not, result in the consumer guarantees ceasing to apply, or the consumers right to a remedy being extinguished." To paraphrase, some might recall my rants about Apple refusing warranty because someone else (probably more experienced and trade qualified than an Apple Service Agent) fixed your phone for a broken screen but then other logic board defects arose, which are completely unrelated to the screen, but Apple denied you your rights to have the device repaired...well I was right to rant and go on record that I do know consumer law! Although $9M is pittance to the amount of money Apple saved globally on denying your rights for repairs, at least it exposes the fact that Apple are yet another global company that take profit over their customers rights. Im not suggesting that you move from Apple devices, far from it; I am asking that you please continue to trust Trooper IT Services for open and honest technical services and advice. https://www.msn.com//apple-fined-dollar9-milli/ar-AAyPBq1

10.01.2022 Is your phone sampling your general conversations whilst it is sitting there innocently on the table with its screen locked? Well if you run Android then after todays occurrence (keep reading) I am of the opinion that it does sample my private conversations. Now, maybe you didnt realise that when you got your phone you have legally agreed to allow this to happen. If you dont care about your privacy then stop reading and move on to something else. If you are concerned ab...out your privacy then keep reading. Whilst you may think this listing in on your private conversations is a breach of privacy, legally speaking it isnt because you (or someone who first turned the phone on) accepted the Terms of Use and in these terms are things related to what that phone and /or software manufacturer can use the device for and part of those Terms of Use are related to the collection non-personally identifiable material...and the Australian Government has set a precedence and now allows this to happen on ALL telecommunication devices. Noticed I eluded to ALL phone manufacturers. Perhaps you dont believe me that they can legally "listen" to your private conversations? Well, if is isnt legal then my phone manufacturer presumably broke Australian privacy laws. Take the following on face value and make of it what you will but this might interest you, especially if you are concerned about your privacy and may be even a little concerned about Australias sovereign rights and our privacy being whittled away: Today I said an obscure word to my brother in the passengers seat - so much of an obscure word that I presume no one reading this would know about this company (not wanting to sound rude) - but I said the word "Accenture". I have not said this word to my brother at all in our lives and for the life of me I dont think I have said this word for about 2-years; but when I got home after traveling, I turned on my PC, opened Twitter and got the ad shown below. I am sure there a checks and balances in place of what marketing material (conversations) they can collect so I dont think we need to worry (cough) but I just thought that some people might be interested and maybe even do some research for their own judgement. I could go on for hours about what this means but make of it what you will, because after all, you have to be careful of what I say nowadays ;)

09.01.2022 We will be closed this Saturday the 17th of Feb. If you have an urgent repair please call the office number 6431 2925 as it will divert through to my mobile as we may be able to arrange a repair. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
