03.01.2022 Jamie hit the East coast Tassie bays on the weekend and had a ball. He said "Here are a few pics of some salmon caught on my trip to St Helens fishing in George...s Bay. The day in question wasn’t the best and conditions worsened during the day. "During this trip I had received information that salmon and tailor were in the bay chasing the massive schools of baitfish. "Once we located the fish, which wasn’t hard to do as there are lots of birds in the bay dive bombing the baitfish, it was time to drop the electric and cast to the fish. "I like this option better than trolling for these fish as you tend to stay in contact with the school better. "My choice of tackle was the Blade N Tails rod RLFBT01 4-8lb and RLFBT02 6-12lb with ATC Virtuous 3000H and 4000H matching reels. These reels were spooled with the new TUF Line 4ORCE Braid in 8lb and the TUF Line XP Braid in 8lb. The new line from 4ORCE and XP Braid is so smooth going through the guides and easy to tie your knots with. No issues at all with knots slipping. This was then tied to the Wilson FC Shock Leader 10lb and using a MUSTAD Utrapoint FASTACH Clip Size 1. "I used the Zerek Barra X Pro 120mm in Purple Rain colour, which is a floating lure diving to 0.8m and the Zerek Cavalla 90mm, which is fast sinking in Blue Sardine colour. This allowed my client to target both areas of the water column. Once hooked these fish give a great account of themselves using light gear. "The Blade N Tails rods make short work of these fish with so much power being absorbed by the rod. The reels have a super smooth drag and are a pleasure to use and are a match in heaven with the Blade N Tails rods". Awesome report Jamie and love seeing Tassie fishing being shown to everyone.
