24.01.2022 SCAM ALERT: Police are urging Far North Queensland residents to be vigilant of people approaching them, offering to do bitumen work at unrealistic prices. The g...roup of men, believed to be English or Irish nationals, have been targeting rural properties with unsealed driveways claiming to represent a road building business. They are usually very persistent and have been known to use stand over tactics, even offering to drive potential victims to the bank to collect a deposit. Residents have reported that after agreeing to do the job, they either receive substandard work, or they are unable to contact the alleged contractor after a deposit has been paid. Police from the Tablelands Criminal Investigation Branch would like to hear from members of the community who have been approached by the "fake tradies" or had work carried out. #9NewsFarNorthQueensland
