20.01.2022 Watch the moment Cairns Police uncover a hidden cannabis lab in Gordonvale. From Cairns Police: During the three-day operation, officers executed search warrants on properties across Gordonvale and Edmonton where twelve people were taken into custody in relation to drug offences.... Approximately 54 cannabis plants and a further amount of cannabis were seized from the elaborate bunker hidden behind a false wall. A 46-year-old man has been charged with producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs, possessing property used in connection of a crime and other drug offences following the discovery of the set up at a Gordonvale property. He is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on December 16. Eleven others have been issued with a Notice to Appear on 32 charges including producing dangerous drugs, supplying dangerous drugs and possessing dangerous drug equipment. Investigations continue with further charges likely.

07.01.2022 A man has died in a single vehicle traffic crash in Machans Beach early this morning. From Cairns Police: Investigations indicate the man was travelling along the Captain Cook Highway just after 1am when his Hyundai sedan left the road and struck a tree. The 40-year-old Watsonville man was pronounced deceased at the scene of the crash.... The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
