23.01.2022 Remembrance Day 2020, Lest We Forget

22.01.2022 Impressive! I flew out of the new and improved Mount Gambier Regional Airport this morning ahead of another week in State Parliament. As the gateway to our wonderful region, I'm proud the State Government contributed $4 million towards this important regional project. Although air travel has been heavily impacted this year, it was great to see the site busy with local contractors and the plane to Adelaide nearly full of people. #regionaljobs

21.01.2022 STATE BUDGET: The 2020/21 State Budget has been handed down on Tuesday. While I would have liked to see more major projects funded in our region and funding towards a region-specific mental health plan, here’s some points of interest: $5.1m to complete works at Grant High School; $800,000 to create a flexible performance space at Varcoe’s Foundry;... Construction of a new fire shed at Yahl; A second $10,000 cash grant for small businesses impacted by Covid-19; $3,000 cash grant for sole traders suffering financial hardship as a result of Covid-19; $10m contribution towards Cancer Council SA Lodge for regional patients undertaking treatment in Adelaide; Investment in local infrastructure projects to be matched dollar-for-dollar by local councils; $20m over three years to upgrade jetties and boat ramps; Doubling of sports vouchers from $50 to $100; A one-off boost of $500 to the cost-of-living concession for households in receipt of Job Seeker payment; $52m Regional roads package; Funding to employ additional teachers; Regional Growth Fund increased. 13.01.2022 EASING RESTRICTIONS ON REGIONAL BUSINESSES Businesses in the Limestone Coast are frustrated by the current restrictions. Yesterday I implored the Transition Committee to allow regional businesses to go back to one per two square metres distancing rules.... Below is only a small part of my speech. 05.01.2022 I got to deliver some good news to local pubs, cafes and hospitality venues such as the Blue Lake Golf Club today. Venues can now go back to one person per 2sqm rule, effective immediately. After raising this issue in Parliament, I encourage everyone to support our local hospitality industry across the Christmas period. Watch my speech here https://bit.ly/2JPtpha #regionsmatter
