24.01.2022 Many people starting in the #homebrew world dont realise just how much of an impact #yeast makes on your finished product. There are two types of yeast availab...le to the home-brewer, liquid and dry. Dry yeast tends to be the easiest to come by but both have their merits. The premium range from Mangrove Jacks covers many different styles and many of them are quite versatile, a few years back I had a Dsseldorf Altbier which I used M54 California Lager on - and it did quite well! I will always advise extract brewers to upgrade from the yeast that comes with their pouch or can to a premium yeast because youre generally pitching a better amount of yeast but also a strain that is better suited to your #beer. What are my favourites? Well, maybe a little biased because I work for the company but I really enjoy our M54 California #Lager, M42 New World Strong #Ale and M84 Bohemian Lager - I dont mind US-05 as well. Experiment with the different yeasts available as well, just because it is recommended for a style - doesnt mean it cant be used on anything else.

13.01.2022 Well its all over for the day due to massive blowout of the transformer out in the carpark at the back of the shops. Power out for who knows how long, smoke still billowing out of transformer due to the burning oil inside it. Hopefully up and running tomorrow depending on Energex fixing the problem. All of the shops in the vicinity of the transformer are now vacated due to the toxic fumes from the burning oil.
