23.01.2022 Hi team, Just a friendly reminder when out working at facilities and in every day life as well.. Handwashing... Handwashing is the single most effective way to reduce the number of microorganisms on the surface of the skin. It should always be performed: - before and after contact with a client, - before and after eating, - after using the toilet, - before and after using gloves, - after contact with used equipment, and - immediately following contact with bodily fluids. Standard handwashing procedure: 1. Remove jewellery. 2. Wet hands thoroughly all over. 3. Use pH neutral soap. 4. Lather soap all over hands. 5. Rub hands together vigorously for 15-20 seconds. Pay particular attention to the fingertips, thumbs, wrists, finger webs and the backs of the hands. 6. Rinse under running water. 7. Pat hands dry with paper towels.

14.01.2022 Some reminders: 1. Communication: please make sure you are calling the office on 03 9497 4611 if you need to get in contact with TRUcare between the hours of 8am and 4:30pm, unless it is an emergency. 2. On call staff: Angela, Leanne, Katherine and Jay share the on call shifts and therefor work a rotating roster so someone different is on call each night, please always call the office if you need to get in contact with TRUcare, not the mobiles unless you are returning a direc...t phone call or SMS. 3. Reply to emails of availability - we need this information to book shifts, if you do not respond we may still call you and be bothering you when you are unavailable for work and if you are needing time off for a holiday or exams please let us know so we do not call you when you do not want to be bothered. 4. Time sheets MUST be submitted either by fax or email by 10am each Monday morning to be paid that week. 5. Please take your breaks if you work more than 5 hours, if you are too busy to take your break you need your RN or supervisor to sign off on the break box otherwise you will still be deducted 30 minutes. 6. Uniform: please ensure you are wearing your TRUcare polo shirt when working shifts through our agency with black or blue pants - no jeans or track suit, with closed toe shoes for safety, and hair tied back, minimal jewellery and smell nice for personal hygiene. 08.01.2022 LAUGHTER IS THE BEST MEDICINE: As carers and Nurses we are responsible for the well being and Life Style of residents, patients and those we care for. The role of a carer extends from personal care to creating a safe, happy & positive environment. Im sure we have all heard the quote Laughter is the best medicine, in saying that we should all put the theory into practice.... When a person laughs, signals are sent to the brain, and the body produces endorphins, which give a lasting feeling of joy, that feeling can completely turn a persons day around. Speaking from personal experience other things that can help to brighten the day of residents can be:- Taking the time to have a quick chat and show interest in what they are saying Touch Holding hands , a pat on the back & other appropriate forms of physical contact Telling jokes and appropriate banter Compliments & positive feed back Just being there , understanding the situation they are in and being considerate of their feelings Open the curtains in their rooms and let the sun light in Keep the above information in mind whilst you perform your role and help to make the lives of residents and patients just that little bit more enjoyable, A smile is free so why not share it!
