21.01.2022 A house isn't built with just a hammer. It requires many tools. And so do you. #hathayoga #yinyoga #yinster #lifestyle #pranayama #meditation #yoga #walking #goodfood #goodthoughts

21.01.2022 Even yoga teachers need a break. Mine is in sight and the path is clear. I am so looking forward to rest, relaxation, catch ups and my practice. 2020 has been very fruitful for my business but it has also come with long hours, endless screen time and being the emotional anchor for many. Now, its time to return to a source where I can recharge, cool down and re-energerize for the new year. #mindfulness #yinyoga #hathayoga #yinster #yogateacher #coogeeyoga #sydneyyoga #sydneyyogateacher #christmasbreak #timeoff #clearpath #recharge

20.01.2022 What happens in a yoga teacher training program? Well, lots! We study anatomy, science, asanas, functional movement, sanskrit, business, philosophy, psychology, alternative therapies, chanting and more! One thing that has proven effective in my teachings is sharing circles. These are opportunities for students to share what is going on in their journey. It's a chance to be yourself as you are with all your vulnerabilities and concerns at the table. Yoga teachers go throu...gh an immense process of change emotionally, spiritually, mentally and physically. We do this so we can be ready and equipped for our students in the public. We are doing the deep inner work on ourselves so that we can be leaders of compassion for our students and to better be able to support the well-being of others. The process is not sunshine and rainbows. There are tears, anger, laughs, confusion, frustration, light and dark. We put ourselves under construction so that we can be architects of healing for our students. Freedom from suffering and pain... that is the yoga. #humanbeing #innerwork #spiritualarchitect #hathayoga #yinyoga #yinster #restorativeyoga #yogateachertraining #yogatrainee #yogastudy #yogaaustralia #sydneyyoga #sydneyyogateacher #yogateachertrainer

20.01.2022 I often get asked what the difference is between restorative yoga and yin yoga. Let's break down the word 'restorative' in a yoga context. All yoga has the ability to allow students to feel restored and renewed in some way. Your energy is balanced, your mind calm and your body feeling rested. Yoga in general can restore. Restorative yoga in particular aims to encourage students to relax and mostly imporantly rest within poses BUT with little to no sensation in the body. In ot...her words - no feelings of stretching or compression. We rest and recharge your energy in poses that produce little to no stimulation and very few poses are practiced. A good restorative class will have maybe 3 to 4 poses. Yin yoga on the other hand, is the exploration of sensation. We explore stretch, compression, tension, resistance, melting, softening and more. The aim is to feel and sit still with sensation which can be challenging in itself for the monkey mind and those who need constant movement. Similar to restorative, there can be a focus on less poses in the practice. In fact, sometimes less is more. Neither of these practices are the 'easy yoga'. They are both challenging in their own right. They both can have restoring elements on the body. What do I recommend? Both Are you team yin or team restorative? #hathayoga #yinyoga #yinster #restorativeyoga #restandrelax #restorativevsyin #rechargeyourbatteries #yogaaustralia #sydneyyoga #sydneyyogateacher #coogeeyoga #yogateachertraining

05.01.2022 QUAD STRETCH My favourite way to get into my quads is what I like to call...REVERSE SADDLE! Take saddle pose on the belly rather then sitting in the knees. Options are to grab the foot and hold (provides a lovely arm release) or really relax into it with a strap looped around the foot and shoulder. Tighten as needed. Lastly, this can also target into the lower back like a typical saddle pose. #yinyoga #yinster #yinvariations #saddlepose #reversesaddlepose #yogavariations #yogaforeverybody #sydneyyoga #sydneyyogateacher #yogaaustralia #yogastrap #howtouseyogaprops
