14.01.2022 Mother Nature lend us a massive helping hand today! The crazy southerly winds in the last two days have moved huge amounts of leaves off our truffière and against the northern fence line... So we used the last hour of daylight today to vacuum up the huge pile and move it out - amounts that would have taken us most of a day to pick up by going up and down the rows! Not to mention the massive benefit of not having to go anywhere near the brûlée where our truffles are ripening with big machinery! Our new leaf vacuum setup is certainly paying off in time and energy saved compared to last year's battle with the leaf blower and rakes!! 01.01.2022 Big day for Cody today! He had his first engagement as a hired truffle dog today!! He got to search a young farm that shows promising signs but has not yet produced truffle. I was very impressed with how well he worked despite all the distractions of a new place and new smells and sounds. He did indicate on a few spots but unfortunately his useless humans failed to find any truffle. Definitely a hint of scent around but maybe they are just so small that we missed them or really deep?? Anyway, encouraging signs for the owners, time to invest in some irrigation etc...
