24.01.2022 Flashback to when I had a lot of fun playing with lego and words with Miss L and Master D.

23.01.2022 WHY we HAVE to make sure we do everything we can to make DLD more visible.

18.01.2022 This video does such a fantastic job of explaining the importance of oral language

17.01.2022 Shared reading for language development! British researcher Don Holdaway was the first to point out the benefits of shared reading. He noted that children found these moments to be some of their happiest. Pretty safe to assume that Miss J is thoroughly enjoying this moment of reading ‘Where is the Green Sheep’ by Mem Fox, to her mum ... A number of studies have been conducted showing the value of shared reading in children’s language development, especially in vocabulary and concept development. Thank you for sharing this video with us, Samantha! What a wonderful thing is is to see the sharing of a story between a parent and child that allows for a personal connection and a quality interaction that results in shared learning. #trumpeteyc #TalkReadPlayTogether #InspireOn

09.01.2022 World Mental Health Day is observed on 10 October every year, with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health. The Day provides an opportunity for all stakeholders working on mental health issues to talk about their work, and what more needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for people worldwide. We need to do more in the early years to support the emotional literacy and resilience of our little ones

05.01.2022 Sometimes we have to slow down just that little bit to notice the beauty and ‘love’ around us #TalkReadPlayTogether #fortheloveoforallanguage #trumpeteyc

04.01.2022 Talking with your baby helps language and communication develop! From birth your baby absorbs a huge amount of information about words and talking, just from listening and watching you talk. Watch this beautiful, chatty moment Master H is having with his baby sister, Miss S ... Although his conversation may seem one-sided you can see Miss S listening and trying to move her face towards Master H. It won’t be long before she’ll try to join the conversation! Thank you for sharing this beautiful moment, Amy #trumpeteyc #TalkReadPlayTogether #Inspireon

04.01.2022 Book Week is such a fantastic reminder of the value books have in our society! They teach us, inspire us, challenge us, spark imagination, joy and wonder but most of all they create opportunity for human connection. Maryanne Wolfe, professor of child development at Tufts University, the author of Proust and the Squid: The Story and Science of the Reading Brain on the benefits of shared reading from infancy, The association between hearing written language and feeling loved ...provides the best foundation for this long process, (emergent or early literacy) and no cognitive scientist or educational researcher could have designed a better one. (Wolf, 2008, p 83) So today’s post is all about appreciating the profound and positive impact book sharing opportunities provide children in terms of their sense of self and well being. When we read to children you can feel the love, warmth and sense of reassurance they get from the interaction that is taking place. Thank you to one of our followers for sharing this beautiful interaction between a mum and her daughters! I love this for so many reasons but mostly for the physical closeness you see between a mum and her girls and for the pure enjoyment the girls are experiencing while listening to their mum read the story with such expression #trumpeteyc #talkreadplaytogether #connectionandlearning
