23.01.2022 Mum and I travelled to India for the first time in 1999. She was 50 and I was 13. This is a photo we took of the Hawa Mahal in Jaipur. I remember the story of the Royal ladies sitting in purdah behind these windows, looking out on to the bazaars

18.01.2022 Historically, pandemics have forced humans to break with the past and imagine their world anew. This one is no different. It is a portal, a gateway between one world and the next. We can choose to walk through it, dragging the carcasses of our prejudice and hatred, our avarice, our data banks and dead ideas, our dead rivers and smoky skies behind us. Or we can walk through lightly, with little luggage, ready to imagine another world. And ready to fight for it. . . .... An excerpt from The Pandemic Is A Portal by Arundhati Roy See more

17.01.2022 Dreaming of the delicious Chicken Berry Pulao from Britannia & Co, one of my favourite lunch spots in Mumbai. Aromatic rice cooked with chicken pieces, fried onions and dried barberries. Sending love to our friends in India. Cant wait to be over there to fill your restaurants and share your hospitality again. Remember to support your local restaurants, cafes and food/beverage suppliers - wherever you are. Ill be getting a take away tonight from my local Indian restaurant. Keep dreaming folks . . . : @dishoom

09.01.2022 Tea time anyone? India consumes over 800k tonnes of tea every year. The ritual of drinking tea or chai brings people together, transcending all boundaries. Roadsides are dotted with chai wallas who serve up tea boiled up with spices, milk and LOTS of sugar. Real masala chai is a thing of beauty, and it is served in clay pots, glasses, tea cups or metal tumblers, made to specific regional recipes, all over India. On Trunk tours, WE DRINK TEA
07.01.2022 My name is Ali. I run Trunk - Boutique Indian Tours. . My connection with India began in 1999, when I visited with my mother, Marnie. I was 13 and she was 50. It was the first time for both of us and we were completely awe-struck. Upon returning, at the request of her friends, mum started taking small groups tours through India. These tours were promoted by word-of-mouth, and were so popular that her business ran for more than 20 years. During this time I have venture...d to India as a helper with mum, as a tourist with various travel buddies, and also as a solo woman on a journey of self discovery. . Today I travel the world as a songwriter and touring musician, but I keep coming back to India for inspiration, self-renewal and a reality check. India is tragic and overwhelming, intoxicating and beautiful beyond description. . I have put together my own tours, sharing the best of what I have learnt from my mum, the wonderful travel agency I work with in Delhi and my own adventures through India. . JOIN ME ON A TRUNK TOUR this year for a truly unique, exciting and surprising holiday. . BOOK VIA www.trunkindia.com.au See more
