24.01.2022 Do you really know your protein? Youve probably heard a lot of information about protein - how much you need, what foods contain protein. what are the best sources of protein and more! With so much information out there, how do you know whats right for you? Were bringing you some protein facts!... How much should you eat? Protein intake ranging between 1.2 and 1.6g per kg of body weight is the most effective in decreasing fat mass while maintaining/increasing muscle mass. This level of protein intake has also been shown to reduce cravings, improve satiety and increase energy levels Is there such a thing as too much protein? Yes! Excess protein can cause weight gain, constipation, diarrhoea and increase cardiovascular risk. What types of food should I be eating to get my protein? Try and stay away from protein sources that are high in saturated fat (fast food, cakes, pastries etc) and lean towards foods such as eggs, seeds, chickpeas, nuts, salmon and greens If you have any other protein questions, leave them below!

23.01.2022 It might look like a normal bolognese - but this is a veggie loaded bolognese made with lentils! This recipe by Our Nourishing Table is packed with flavour and nutrients - Slice your onions, zucchini, carrot, capsicum, garlic cloves and mushrooms and blend them in a food processor or high speed blender until it forms a paste. - Pour olive oil into frypan and bring to medium heat on the stove. Place vegetable paste into frypan and saut for 5 minutes.... - Pour in the passata, red wine and lentils. Add the oregano, bay leaves, salt and pepper and stir to combine. Reduce heat to low and allow to simmer for 20 minutes with the lid on. - Cook your pasta of choice until al dente and divide pasta among bowls. Top with spoonfuls of bolognese, fresh basil and parmesan.

23.01.2022 This carrot cake baked oats recipe by Our Nourishing Table is a seriously yummy way to start the day! These baked oats are dairy free, wheat free and gut friendly 1 - Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius. 2 - In a large bowl add rolled oats, walnuts, grated carrot, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and baking powder. Stir to combine.... 3 - In a medium sized bowl whisk together milk, eggs, coconut oil, maple syrup and vanilla. 4 -Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir until well combined. 5- Into a greased baking dish, pour in baked oats mixture and spread out evenly with a spoon. 6 - Place in oven and bake for 45 minutes or until golden brown on top. Serve topped with yoghurt of choice.

21.01.2022 Did you know that bad posture can increase feelings of depression, drain your energy and cut off your circulation? Working at a desk and lounging around at home are prime causes for slouching and bad posture, and it's something that so many of us suffer from (sometimes without even realising). These 5 easy tips can be done at work or home, and will help you to improve your posture - and say goodbye to slouching for good ... Keep your ears in line with your shoulders when watching TV or looking at a screen. Pull back your shoulder blades - this will open up your chest and avoid rounded shoulders. Uncross your legs when sitting - both legs should be flat on the ground when sitting on a chair. Take breaks - ensure you are getting up and moving your body, regularly. Do exercises when sitting for long periods - this can include arm, neck and leg stretches or even desk yoga! Did you find these tips helpful?

Youll notice your increased heart rate slows down gradually and your stress levels are managed! Here is one of our favourite breathing exercises to practice deep, belly breathing:... - Put one hand on your stomach just below your ribs and the other hand on your chest - Take a deep breath in through your nose and let your stomach push your hand out (your chest should stay still) - Breathe out through pursed lips. Feel the hand on your stomach go in and use it to push all the air out Do this breathing a few times and take your time - then whenever you are stressed you can go back to this exercise and use it to relax

This underrated variation of the plank is great for strengthening the core, and it works the muscles on the backside of the body, specifically targeting the lower back, hamstrings, glutes and hip flexors. To do this exercise:... Sit on the floor with your legs extended in front of you. Place palms on the floor behind you, slightly wider than your hips with fingers spread apart. Press down into your palms and lift your hips and torso toward the ceiling. Look up, point toes, and keep arms and legs straight. Squeeze your belly button toward your spine and hold for 30 seconds (repeat up to three sets).

09.01.2022 To our lovely community, We have recently discovered some of you are not receiving our waitlist notifications, or are seeing them too late. After listening to your feedback, we have decided to change our process so that anyone on the waitlist will be pushed into class in the order it was booked. This will be commencing from Friday 14th August.... If you no longer wish to attend your classes we are asking you to please cancel your waitlist spot. This also means that late cancellations will no longer be possible. (Charges apply as per usual). To make sure bookings are fair, we are introducing a 12 hour notice period for back to back bookings on weekends. This ensures everyone gets a chance to attend if you cant make it. Thank you for all of your effort so far! You have been amazing with cancelling on time. This is something we really appreciate as it helps us streamline our booking process. We understand many of you cannot be by your phone at all times and may have missed out because of it. We truly hope this change will make the process easier for everyone. @heistcreative

09.01.2022 This yoga pose is an *amazing* stretch, and has many other benefits for your body and mind The Wide Angle Seated Forward Bend - Prasarita Padottanasana, is a well known stretch that is usually done after lower body exercises. The pose gives a deep stretch to the insides and backs of your legs, and also helps strengthen your spine. Youll feel a calming sensation in your brain and a release of your groin ... For the best results, increase the forward bend on each exhalation until you feel a comfortable stretch in the backs of your legs. Stay in the pose for 1 minute or longer and then come up on an inhalation with a long front torso!

04.01.2022 The Plank Pose - also known as Phalakasana, is a Yoga pose that will work hard at strengthening and toning your whole body If youre looking to develop core strength and stability, this is the pose for you! If youre a beginner, build your strength up by practising a half plank with your knees on the floor first - and then moving to the full plank pose. Gradually increase the time you spend in this pose to build up the strength in your wrist muscles - youll be feeling the burn in no time

04.01.2022 Looking for crispy baked sweet potato fries that are perfectly seasoned and easy to make? The Forked Spoon has you covered Step 1 - Preheat oven to 220 degrees and prepare your sweet potatoes by cutting them into fry-shaped pieces. Step 2 - Coat in cornstarch and seasoning of your choice. This is what makes them crispy and delicious! Drizzle the fries with olive oil and continue to toss until all fries are evenly coated in spices and oil.... Step 3 - Bake for 15 minutes and then flip, baking for another 10-15 minutes until fries are golden and crispy. Step 4 - Serve with your favourite dips and sauces!

Heres how to make them:... Preheat oven to 170C and line a square baking dish with baking paper. In a food processor, blend black beans until smooth. Add in eggs, oil, vanilla, cocoa, sugar, baking powder, salt and 1/2 of the choc chips. Pour into prepared baking tray and top with remaining choc chips. Bake in the oven for 30-35min. Allow to cool completely before slicing. Happy baking
