25.01.2022 On a scale of 1 to 10, how well are YOU doing? I attend a few network meetings regularly and have the great pleasure of meeting fellow business owners. At these meetings you can sense that there is an underlying urgency for most to advance their business. The ones that have not been affected by the global situation are grateful and the ones that have been affected, are doing everything they can to survive. Many have taken advantage of the recent outpouring of resources and su...pport made available, to learn, expand or pivot their business, while almost all are working longer hours. So, in the midst of this flurry of activity, on a scale of 1 to 10, how well are YOU doing? Are you on the right path towards an Ideal business? One that provides you greater income but not at the expense of your time away from your loved ones. Message me for a chat. Helping small to medium business owners achieve their IDEAL business. 19.01.2022 C’mon guys, Stress is not good for you!! Some facts: one in six of us are currently facing depression and/or anxiety; we lose more than eight of our mates each day by suicide (ref: BeyondBlue). Many of us have lost someone dear to us at some time. Last Friday I attended the Beenleigh Yatala Chamber’s network event and the speaker was James Peterson from the Australian mental health charity BreakingFree. It was the first time I have heard this impressive young man speak and ...it was both very sobering and hugely informative. I was not aware of the stats especially for the young but what gave me great optimism is the information as to the causes of this disease. It wasn’t that long ago when it wasn’t cool to talk about how we felt when under stress, but with all the research studies to date, the understanding that going through high STRESS over extended periods can cause a chemical shift in our brain which may lead to possible mental health disease. James’ catchcry is I Put My Mental Health First and detailed 8 simple effective actions. With all the support available today, take the first step and reach out. 11.01.2022 A successful business relies on a multitude of factors to be aligned optimally, one of this is having a great Culture. The most valuable asset your company has are the people working in the business, their knowledge, experience, their ability to achieve results and their ability to work together. Last week I did a webinar presentation on Culture for my beloved Logan Chamber of Commerce which has been recorded on this link. https://youtu.be/9lAHypabp8M I talked about the role... of the leader, the management team, importance of communications, the company’s mission statement and motivation. Great Culture will see a company soar through the power of many. Helping small to medium business owners achieve their IDEAL business. https://trustedbusinessadvisor.com.au/

09.01.2022 Who is your Customer? - part 1 As an old school petrol head, I am seeing some of the big brands upscaling their models but Is it just me or are they starting to forget who their customer is. Let me give you an example. Land Rover make beautiful vehicles targeted at the luxury end, they also had models targeted at the family end but the new owners seem to be shifting up-market and away from their loyal base.... I have owned 3 Land Rover Discoverys in a row, upgrading to the next model each time. I was a huge fan and thought my last Disco3 was a design icon and the perfect family car. Like thousands of other loyal Disco fans, it gave me a feeling of functional luxury and quality but was a highly capable off-roader; all at a price comparable to the Toyota Prado. I had no desire to spend any more on a vehicle. The latest Disco, although highly competent has questionable styling and is now priced well into the luxury category. The Defender was also an Icon. It has an incredible history with a legendary reputation, akin to an English version of the original army Jeep. The new Defender is now moving up-market. Why would you change it so dramatically and not continue to celebrate the values of that product, albeit with a newer hybrid powerplant? Just look at the new Jeep Wrangler, it still has its same DNA but now very modern. No doubt Jeep are rubbing their hands at inheriting the market share gifted to them. Don’t get me wrong, the new Defender is an incredible vehicle but perhaps it should really be rebadged as the Discovery. There is certainly room for a new Defender Classic directed at its original core target market and I’ve heard news of a new English brand doing just that. It is the role of the leader to maintain clarity of direction. It is easy to fall for your own rhetoric or worse still, ego, but Who is your customer? Who is buying your product? Can you afford to lose them? Helping small to medium business owners achieve their IDEAL business. https://trustedbusinessadvisor.com.au/
