23.01.2022 Getting out of a rut can take ages unless you find a way to flick your switch and land yourself ‘in the zone.’ Sometimes it seems like it happens accidentally at other times you wonder what the hell you’re doing wrong. It doesn’t have to be that way. With time and understanding, you can learn what can trigger you to flick your switch. Here’s 5 quick hacks to help you get it done. Eliminate External Distractions... External distractions are truly the bane of modern existence. Notifications, ringing phones, social media, other people: whatever the distractions are, do your best to remove them from your environment so you can focus. Eliminate Internal Distractions This doesn’t just mean a queasy stomach. Fleeting thoughts, angst over a disagreement with someone close, or your own fear and anxiety. All these things can push at your brain and keep you from finding your own zone. Try jotting down all the ideas that are repeat thoughts or meditating to clear the mental clutter. Find and Work at Your Peak Time Find the time when you are best able to concentrate and do your best work. Some of us are early risers, some of us are night people/ Everyone’s peak time is different, and it may take time to find yours. Discovering the times of the day you work at your best will allow you to rearrange your schedule so that you can use your time wisely. Find Your Groove You may not be a music person, or you know that you always get distracted. In that case, skip this one.For many though, the right music can help tune out distractions and help you find your pace and groove to set your work to. If you are wary of this hack, try putting one or two soothing songs on repeat or listening to classical music for an hour or so to see how it goes. Stop Multi-tasking Multitasking, like external distractions, may also be the bane of modern-day existence. It was once hailed as the ultimate sign of a productive individual. However, we now know that multitasking cuts into productivity and equates to tasks taking longer sometimes a lot longer. Try focusing on a particular job for as long as you can, preferably until that task is done. When you first start, this may be a short amount of time, but you can slowly work your way up. Finding yourself in the zone is something that you can learn to do. It’s another skill. But first, you need to learn what triggers you to flick the switch and get things done. Like to know more? Just ask.
21.01.2022 Us perfectionists strive to be the best at everything we do, and this isn’t necessarily a bad thing many perfectionists excel in their own fields. Wait. That doesn’t mean that this personality trait we have, isn’t without its downside. When something comes unstuck and it feels like a significant personal failure, that’s when perfectionism can become a real problem. As a perfectionist you try and hold yourself (and often others) to standards the deep-down, you know are unre...Continue reading
