25.01.2022 Round 7 this Saturday TSS v BBC. Grab a group of mates and head to Garden Kitchen & Bar at The Star to watch this Saturday's First games on their outdoor big screen. The lawn space will be open early for all Old Boys and friends from midday. Attendees will be required to register their details and also need to practice social distancing as per the QLD government requirements. Entry to the lawn is via the driveway entrance to the side of the main Porte Cochere. ... Mano's on Tedder Avenue will also be live streaming the First XV game at 3:15pm. 21.01.2022 Tomorrow is the Senior School Swimming Carnival at TSS, but things were very different in 1925! Debbie from Archives shares this story with us. The boys used to walk to Southport for the Swimming Carnival at the Southport bars, which were located out on the Broadwater from the Southport Pier area, Tuesley’s Park where the old train used to reside.... This water was much cleaner there than the Nerang River running past TSS. The Broadwater was tidal and the water was deeper. Although the odd jelly blubber was a problem at times and a few bull sharks if you were there at dusk. The boys also had swim bars opposite the Boatshed in the Nerang River. These were used occasionally for swimming events, but the Nerang River was full of debris and on low tide , was shallow with lots of mangroves. They often used to play Dodge the log whilst swimming. The Nerang River back in the old days was a major vessel thoroughfare to Brisbane and tugs, rafts and boats would cargo logs, cattle and food supplies up and down the river. It was rarely quiet.
