20.01.2022 The National NAIDOC Committee invites entries from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists for the National NAIDOC Poster Competition reflecting and captu...ring the 2021 theme: Heal Country! Heal Country! calls on all of us to continue to seek greater protections for our lands, our waters, our sacred sites and our cultural heritage from exploitation, desecration, and destruction. Heal Country! also means finally resolving many of the outstanding injustices which impact on the lives of our people. The winning entry will be awarded a $10,000 cash prize and the artwork recognised across the country on the 2021 National NAIDOC poster. The competition is now open to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists aged 13 years or older and will close 5:00pm (AEDST) Monday 8 March 2021. 09.01.2022 Aunty Rosalind Sailor and Big Eye Theatre presented a warm and spirit-filled weekend at Dancenorth to commence NAIDOC Week celebrations of Aboriginal and Torres... Strait Islander history, culture and achievements. The whole of the Dancenorth building and theatre, garden and car-park came alive with culture, discussion, arts, crafts, family and song. 09.01.2022 Well NAIDOC Week has come and gone again, despite Covid the community done well with events and activities Schools around Townsville celebrated Naidoc week, Big Eye Theatre celebrated for 3 days with it's inaugural NAIDOC ART EXPO and flag raising Ceremony Included in that was the Handover Ceremony of the Artefacts to the Museum of Tropical Qld, Cootheringa held an Art exhibition, Ronald McDonald house had a morning tea with the unveiling of Artwork by Linda Oliver Lindilooz ...Art Gallery held an Open Day, RAAF had a Open Day also with the unveiling of Artwork by Linda Oliver Dancenorth held a Cultural Awareness with staff and dancers also assisted during the Expo Still to come is the NAIDOC Dinner and the Elders luncheon on the 11th of December organized by the NAIDOC committee The NAIDOC committee also organized a virtual Flag Raising Ceremony Always was Always will be #NAIDOC2020 Congratulations to all let's celebrate 365 days of NAIDOC See more

The iconic Awards acknowledge the outstanding contributions and excellenc...e of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people across ten award categories covering fields of art, education and training, sport, environment and leadership. Nominate someone today via the online form: https://www.naidoc.org.au/awards/nominations Nominations received as part of the 2020 award nomination process will be automatically included for consideration of a 2021 National NAIDOC award. Nominations close will close 5:00pm (AEDST) Monday 22 March 2021. Award winners will be honoured during NAIDOC Week at the National NAIDOC Awards in Mparntwe (Alice Springs) in July 2021.
