25.01.2022 Saturnalia, the last Diffraction Collective event of the year. A lot has changed over 2019 that I'll reflect on in a different post, but these gigs have certainly been solid the whole year thanks to a dedicated and caring community! Looking forward to more in 2020.

25.01.2022 Some fav shots from the HaFiesta! feat: The Mistachios from a few Fridays ago. The event was a fusion of latin dance from Movimiento, belly dance from Scimitar Moon Belly Dance, and the delightful sounds of acoustic trio The Mistachios.

23.01.2022 Dan Baker Album Launch - "Counting Paces In Tortoise Races" with Neighbourhood Sessions was beautiful last night. Some hauntingly moving melodies for the soul if ever there were some. Make sure to like the Neighbourhood Sessions page to see the full album when it comes out. If you missed it, make sure to catch Motions EP Launch event ft. Meraki at Neighbourhood Live House tonight!

22.01.2022 Photo and projection mapping from contrabass, an event by Diffraction Collective

21.01.2022 Tayla Young & Matilda Duncan at Neighbourhood Live House on Sunday. Emotional and peaceful sets, and some beautiful gems of songs that can only be enjoyed live because they aren't all online yet (do make sure to check out the ones that are though, and even better, see them live if you can!). Neighbourhood Sessions are also doing their free live house and dumplings combo again tonight, so make sure to drop in if you're in the city!

20.01.2022 On the 1's and 0's on Friday night for Contrabass with some projection mapping (in the outside area, inside by Synoptic) and a couple snaps. Lovely company, tunes, and people watching times.

17.01.2022 What a huge weekend! Jungle Shimmy Trivia Night on Saturday had beautiful performances. Thanks always to Scimitar Moon Belly Dance for bringing together such a wonderful group of dancers!

17.01.2022 Some new photo work with the stunning Cara Griffin of Scimitar Moon Belly Dance repping Pharaonix Of Egypt (I'm getting back into portraits with artful edits). More info below:

14.01.2022 Hella Nervous about putting up these photos from this fantastic cabaret circus extravaganza last Friday, because they're a little bit risque and wanted to run them past the head organizer first. The actual album of these hella talented, gender subverting, fit as fuck Townsville locals is far more risque, so make sure you like their page so you can see it when it eventually finds it's path up to the interwebs. Also so you can give them all the positive feedback in the world so they'll put on another show!

14.01.2022 I know Halloween was yesterday, but I was digging through my archives for another project and stumbled on these photos from the 2015 Halloween Full Moon party on Magnetic Island. Thought you might all enjoy a flashback to some of the costumes and raucous celebrations from before the days of social distancing

12.01.2022 Had a great time on Sunday photographing local blues legend Tim Griffin Musician and some special guests as part of the Fringe Blues Music Festival at the Wonderland Spiegeltent! Then stuck around for Bernie Dieter's Little Death Club, which was also sensational.

12.01.2022 Hi all, it's been a while. 2020 is a messed up year and I hope you're staying safe. Within the next week I'll have a video what I've been up to. Until then, here's some progress shots of new series I've been working on called 'Monoliths.' An attempt to bring together social science concepts, current issues, and present them from a fresh perspective. ... This project is supported by the Queensland Government through Arts Queensland. Given all the uncertain times and the huge loss of work, any kind of funding is a lifeline. The arts, especially live music, dance, and theater (and in my case, photographing the former), has been crushed by the necessary lock-downs. But given how much the Arts contributes to the economy, the government needs to do what it can to keep the industry going through these tough times - and whether it is enough is still a big question mark. Studying sociology and politics has made me infinitely thankful for hard won privileges that can easily be taken for granted, and equally disgusted at how exploitative parts of the system are. It's not just you, this era of monopoly capitalism is a mess. We humans are a hot mess. I'll have more to say soon. In the meantime, thanks to all the people who work hard and fight to keep things afloat try make our societies fairer.

08.01.2022 Some highlights from the Late November gig last night with support from Hear Me Out and Headlights. Tonight Neighbourhood Sessions have Voye - 'Hummingbird' EP Launch at Neighbourhood Live House and tomorrow Colie 'Sunday News' Music Video - Exclusive Premiere & Live Show. Live house wraps up on Tuesday, so if you haven't been already yet, make sure to get along to the last few gigs!

04.01.2022 Tropical Optics by Diffraction Collective on Friday at the Herbert. Awesome time as always, and a big thanks to Marc for letting me borrow his laptop for projections when I realised I forgot my power cable! (and Evan for the harddrive to transfer over my visuals) Hope y'all had a lovely weekend. I'll also be doing a page update soon too.

02.01.2022 Also over the weekend just gone, Sonic Alliance by the Diffraction Collective as part of North Australian Festival of the Arts and Northern Fringe Festival! Massive thanks to everyone who put it on and made it a great celebration of art, music, and performance. In my own corner, I got to collaborate as Tszar (hoping to do my future art under that name) with the great Mr Troubles by projection mapping his mural. Best moment of success with it was coming back to change up the visuals and seeing a couple apparently moved to the passion in front of it! A little more love in the world is a win.
