24.01.2022 Need for speed. High speed internet is available in Hervey Bay and Maryborough. This is one we installed yesterday. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/6595087906

23.01.2022 The world is cloudy. Or is it? There seems to be constant babble in all parts of the IT area about cloud. Cloud this Cloud that. You must have cloud. Cloud is the saviour of the universe. Of course this is what all the sales people will tell you as cloud is good for sales people. They get a commission on the sale and then often a monthly commission on what you spend regardless of whether you talk to them ever again....Continue reading

22.01.2022 Just some Monday morning stress relief,

14.01.2022 Well NBN is finally here in Hervey Bay. Well sort of. And like all these things the "experts" are suddenly everywhere offering their advice. Be careful. Here are a few facts:...Continue reading

12.01.2022 One of the greatest pains in the Fraser Coast region is the spotty mobile phone coverage. While it is good in much of our area there are some very annoying spots where it is just not there. Examples being Booral Rd, Saltwater Ck, much of Dundowran and of course most of the interconnecting roads. What happened to the good old days when the phone worked everywhere? The problem is that all the new smart phones, Apple, Samsung and whatever else do not have provision for an extern...al antenna and you are trying to use them in a big tin box with wheels. Well I solved my problem with a product called CelFi-Go. It is a mobile or fixed phone booster that actually works and is legal. The clever bit here is it does not try to be all things to all people and be rather average at everything. It works on one carrier only and one band with the roof and internal antennas separated by the roof of the car. This way it does not interfere with itself and gives great performance. The one I have personally is configured for Telstra and can do 3G, 4G and 4Gx. I leave it set on 4Gx (band 28) as that seems to be the one that gives me the best coverage. It works by plugging into the cigarette lighter, sticking the little antenna on the roof with a cable out through a door seal and bingo, it is working. It allows lots of connection so others in the car can also take advantage with phones, pads of even laptops. In fact I liked it so much that we are now the Hervey Bay agent for them with Bradshaws in Maryborough doing them up there. There are also Optus and Vodafone versions if you use those carriers and of course there are house versions as well which run off 240v. They start at about $900 (half the price of an iPhone X) and have a 30 day love it or bring it back in the original box for a full refund guarantee. If you want to see one in action just wander in and we can show you. Please note these are not the Celfi-Pro box thing that is sold in the shopping centres.

11.01.2022 For all those in the Hervey Bay and Maryborough areas who want commercial grade high speed internet it is now available. 50Mb/s down and 20Mb/s up $300 a month 25Mb/s down and 5Mb/s up $150 a month 25Mb/s down and 5Mb/s up CGNAT $100 a month Higher speeds are available.... No this is not NBN so does not suffer from the NBN overload problems. Please note this is commercial internet not home internet. The primary difference between commercial and home is that commercial internet will hold its speed and latency stable so cloud operation and VOIP are not compromised by the overloads that constantly slow down home internet services. If you are looking for a cheap home internet service then this product is probably not suitable. Call us on 07 4128 3866 for details

11.01.2022 Be careful everyone. There is another ransomeware attack coming pretending to be ATO and Telstra bills. Just delete them

10.01.2022 NBN is here in 2018. As many of you are aware there is more uninformed rubbish on various social media about the NBN than about Trump, ISIS, Clinton and One Nation, ALP and croc attacks combined. The focus of these posts is to assist those in the Fraser Coast region to choose an appropriate service and equipment.... There are unlimited horror stories around of NBN all going wrong and delivering slow and highly latent connections. I hope some of these posts will help people understand how why they are having problems. First one FTTN, FTTC and FTTP. For the majority there is no difference whatsoever. The two former use, at this time, VDSL technology which will deliver a maximum of 100Mb/s down 40Mb/s up which unsurprisingly is the maximum speed being offered on any NBN service. The only reasons that it is not all FTTP are simply that it would cost a lot more and take a lot longer before being delivered to region areas (that is us). We are not all in Western Sydney although I am sure some politicians cannot understand that concept. Both FTTN and FTTC have fibre optic connection to a central local point and copper for the rest. To convert either of them to FTTP only takes replacing the copper with fibre. Ironically 99% of the whingers who will rave for hours how fibre is better than copper and copper is ancient technology use copper exclusively in their internal networks (e.g. Cat 6 cables). Why not run everything on fibre? You can buy fibre switches and fibre network cards and run your computers at 10Gb/s or higher. It just costs a lot more and you will not see any difference in normal operation. So here the things to look for: Choose a speed that is appropriate for your use. Faster is not always better as the other end almost always limits you. I have two 330Mb/s fibre links and on most applications i.e. social media, youtube, ebay etc. there is no perceptible difference over 50Mb/s. Make sure your equipment is up to scratch. If your router or switch is overloaded at 100Mb/s your speed tests will show lower readings and you will think the NBN is slow when in fact it is you who is the bottleneck. Also be aware that cheapo wifi will really slow you down especially if you have a gazillion phones, pads, laptops, smart TV, Blurays, internet radios etc. all connected. Yes Netfix etc. will allow running 4 HD TVs at a time and this is wonderful to ignore while you are texting or updating your status but it will grind your internet down to a crawl. Last thing in this post. You get what you pay for. Go with the cheapest options and you will get the lowest level of service. Contention is the ratio of connections to available bandwidth. Rule of thumb. The cheaper the connection, the more people attached and therefore the worse it will be at peak times. Porsches and Hyundais both go equally slow in traffic jams. Choose your road wisely..... Next post will be "How to test your connection to make sure it is working correctly".

05.01.2022 Warning everyone. There is a crypto scam out there that is an invoice for esib .com.au "Eastern Suburbs Insurance Brokers" DELETE IT . DO NOT OPEN IT

04.01.2022 So how fast is my internet? This is a simple question with a very complex answer. Most people just go to an online site like "speedtest.net" or the like and get latency, download and upload readings and settle for that. Sometimes that looks good, other times terrible but what does it actually mean?...Continue reading
