25.01.2022 If 540 people gave $50 to this year Digital Red Shield Appeal we would have enough funds for our Fresh Food Project (installation of Fridge/Freezer Cool Room) for food storage to give out to the most vulnerable in our community. https://digitaldoorknock.salvationarmy.org.au/t/tea-tree-gu

24.01.2022 As you may be aware the SA government has announced a 6 day lockdown (details below). As a result our Oasis Cafe, Church services & Mainly music will be closed / not running. The building front door will also be closed to public 'walk-ins', however, our Community Support Services will still be available to those in immediate hardship and to those needing emergency relief assistance (via telephone interview and other arrangements). We encourage you to follow the advice of your healthcare provider and the government recommendations and regulations at this time and stay covid-safe. Please also consider calling your neighbours and other vulnerable people in our community to check in and make sure they are ok. We are praying for the community and for a speedy recovery.

23.01.2022 THANK YOU! During this years Red Shield Appeal (Digital Doornock) with your support we raised $4,781 toward our local Fresh Food Project (Cool Room). It has been a challenging year for our community and the pandemic has impacted society in many ways, much of which is yet to be seen. This is the first year that we have not been able to connect and collect in person at Shopping Centres and face to face. We would like to extend our gratitude and appreciation to all of our on...line supporters and to those who supported and gave in other ways during the appeal. Also, a Big thank you to our Team of Digital Ambassadors - Margaret, Eleanor, Gordon, Adrian, Sally and Lydia for raising funds and promoting the appeal online through their social networks. Although we did not raise the $27,000 we had hoped for, we are currently investigating a scaled down version of the Fresh Food Project (Cool Room) and further fundraising ideas to enable us to meet the growing demand for our services and prepare our service for the increase in demand as we recover from this crisis. Blessings, -Cpt. Adrian

13.01.2022 Whilst most of Australia slowly begins to reopen and Victorians once again face the challenges of lockdown, we remain on the frontline to ensure we leave no one... in need. When the Victorian Government announced and implemented hard lockdowns on the North Melbourne Housing Estates, Melbourne Salvos were asked to help with the coordination of support in the towers after years of providing support to residents. During this lockdown, we are focused on the wellbeing of older residents in the towers on the North Melbourne Estate. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Salvos across the country have been connecting with communities to deliver the help they need. From hampers containing basic grocery essentials, to much-needed wellbeing checks, to financial hardship relief we are here and will be here for the long haul. 13.01.2022 Listen to this: https://soundcloud.com//the-generals-devotional-11-october Read below: Then the Lord said: ‘Indeed, I know their sufferings’... Exodus 3:7. For these past few weeks we have read from the Book of Genesis for our devotionals. We have seen how God has been at work in the lives of Abraham and Sarah, Jacob and Rachel, and Joseph. Genesis concludes with Joseph in Egypt. Recall that Joseph had been trafficked to Egypt but gains such trust with officials that he comes to hold an important responsibility. The Bible’s story then continues with the Book of Exodus. This second Book of the Bible is critical for our understanding of God, of God’s people, and the leadership of God’s people. As the Book of Exodus begins we are told that a new Pharaoh rules Egypt. We are also told that this new Pharaoh has no knowledge of Joseph. He doesn’t know the Joseph who wisely administered Egypt’s economy so that it survived seven years of famine. He certainly doesn’t know the Joseph who brought his family from Canaan to settle in Egypt. What this new Pharaoh does come to believe, however, is that these Israelites are a threat to his kingdom. He fears these people that have grown in numbers, so this new Pharaoh enslaves them. He sets task masters over their lives and forces them to build cities that will symbolise his power. This Pharaoh also sets in motion a programme of genocide. Every girl that is born can live, but if a boy is born he is to be thrown into the River Nile. The river that normally gives life becomes a place of death. The Book of Exodus thus begins its story with Israel in captivity. Time moves on, and this unnamed Pharaoh dies. But his system of oppression continues. Out of the pain of their suffering, Joseph’s people cry for help. But where is God in the midst of this suffering? Where is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob in this slavery? Where is God in the oppressions of our world? Where is God in the suffering of those who cannot visit their family members infected with COVID-19? Where is God in the agonies of refugees whose camp was burned to the ground on the Island of Lesbos? The Book of Exodus helps us to realize that the cries of suffering reach the ears of God. In chapter 3, verse 7, God says, ‘I have observed the misery of my people who are in Egypt; I have heard their cry on account of their taskmasters. Indeed I know their sufferings’ This knowing is the deep intimate knowledge that parents have of their children. God knows our sufferings intimately. God knows the sufferings of those who are being trafficked today. God knows the sufferings of those who are being racially oppressed. There is an intimate connection between God and those who suffer. Pharaoh may not know Joseph, but God knows the sufferings of his people. And this leads God to begin his saving work. We will see how God goes about this task as we read further in the Book of Exodus. Living in the midst of this pandemic Salvationists are very conscious of the cries of suffering. Like God, many of you intimately know the sufferings of these days, either your own or of those you serve. Some of us have entered into the suffering of those experiencing racial abuse. Salvationists know the sufferings that have resulted from devastating fires in different parts of our world. We bend our ears to the cries of suffering, and respond with God’s saving grace. We have not kept our distance from suffering. We engage it and respond to it. As we continue to embody our mission to a suffering world, know of my prayerful support. Together may we know that God’s ears bend to these cries of suffering. And this knowledge makes a difference. May God bless you.

05.01.2022 I want to witness to you that you can rely upon God implicitly, but I recognise that many are having difficult days. One of my encouragements has been that we n...ot test God in these perilous moments. But to be safe and to trust him to the point where your prayers become a testimony of your confidence in him.
