25.01.2022 Some black and white tag ewes waiting patiently for the preg scanner today.

25.01.2022 This mob of late joined ewes will be preg scanned on Monday and any drys will be for sale. They are all ages up to 5 but mainly on the younger end. Quality of the video is not great but can take photos and DM them to anyone interested, along with pricing info on Monday.

24.01.2022 We are sadly losing our trusty employee Gary who is returning to the mother country early next year! Gary has been a wonderful person to work with over the last couple of years and his animal husbandry skills have been second to none. We are therefore just beginning our search for a Farmhand for 3-4 days per week on our mixed farming operation at Willaura North. We are currently running approximately 3000 Dorper ewes plus some mixed cropping. Applicant prerequisites:... 1. Interest in regenerative agriculture principles. 2. Livestock and fencing experience. 3. Self motivated with a can doattitude. 4. Ability to work independently and in a team. Salary package and terms of employment to be negotiated with the successful candidate. Please contact Jack Tucker on 0427 547 636 or [email protected] for more information. Feel free to share this post with anyone that might be interested. For more details about our business you can visit www.rhyniepastoral.com.au

14.01.2022 Jack has just completed a large direct seeding project to provide shelter for our Dorper’s and help with increasing biodiversity across our property. The areas he has focused on link in with existing wildlife corridors. The seed mix contains 4 Eucalypt, 3 Acacia, 2 Callistemon, 2 Melaleuca and 1 Allocasuarina species. Let’s hope this seasons conditions lead to a great result.

13.01.2022 Here at Tuckers Dorper we undertake rigorous testing of our product daily, sometimes twice daily if the weather is good! Here is our chief tester Johnny, hes still hard at it even though its Saturday evening. Johnny gives this batch of chops 10/10!

07.01.2022 Playtime in the paddock

07.01.2022 Resting in the shade on a lovely autumn day here in the Grampians region. These Dorper ewes were recently joined and will lamb in June. At the moment they are enjoying being on a lupin stubble.

07.01.2022 The extremely talented Janette Lucas www.janettelucas.com recently created a logo for our business and we couldnt be happier with the result. Combining production with conservation is an important part of our business model and we think Janette has captured this beautifully by incorporating our main enterprise, Dorper sheep, with the biodiversity that we are nurturing across our property. Thank you Janette.

07.01.2022 Its reassuring when we get cold snaps like this knowing our sheep have plenty of trees to seek shelter under! Its days like today that our tree planting efforts definitely pay dividends! Stay warm everyone

04.01.2022 Alexia Mitchell is a very talented third-year Media and Communications (Sports Journalism) student at La Trobe University in Bundoora, Melbourne. She recently made contact with us about producing a film and an article featuring the Shepherds Hut Sanctuary and wind turbines located on our property for an assignment she needed to do. When we established the sanctuary one of our initial goals was to share it with the community so that it could be used to contribute towards ec...ological research and ecological education of people who come into contact with the sanctuary. For this reason we welcomed Lexis request wholeheartedly and think she has done a great job. We hope you enjoy learning a little more about the Sanctuary, how we incorporate our Dorper enterprise into the overall management of this area and the benefits we are seeing since its establishment in 2016. You can follow Alexia on Twitter @lexilegs99 with Lexi Mitchell.

03.01.2022 Happy Dorpers enjoying some fresh grass!

03.01.2022 These ewes and lambs are loving the fabulous spring growthIt was a beautiful evening to be out moving them onto new pasture.

02.01.2022 Here is the head shepherd putting flock rams out with the ewes today. We have gone two weeks earlier than last year, aiming for a mid May lambing.

01.01.2022 Have a look how protective this ewe is, chasing the ravens away and then pushing her lambs the other way. I watched this for 15 mins - at one stage there was 6 ravens, but without intervention from me they got the message and left! Very pleasing! (Apologies for the poor quality, long distance phone vid...)

01.01.2022 As some of you are probably aware, we recently purchased all Norm and Heather Summervilles The Croft Dorpers as they are retiring. We thank them very much for the opportunity, and will continue with with the goals of high productivity and easy care, through focusing on fertility and lambing ease, shedding and conformation (especially feet). The main aim of this move is to fast track the improvement of our own genetics, but given that we have taken on the entire 2019 drop of ram lambs we will have some rams for sale later in the year.

01.01.2022 Very excited to receive our first ever pack of Mt Moriac Beef. Really looking forward to trying it#grassfedbeef #surfcoasthinterland #homedeliveryacrossvictoria #paddocktoplateisthebest

01.01.2022 UPDATE Since our recent post letting you know our lamb can now be purchased through the PDL Marketplace we have had a couple of delivery queries. If you enter your postcode on the PDLmarketplace website and find this situation applies to you please be sure to still enter your contact details and you will be informed if and when home delivery is avail...able to your location.
