15.01.2022 Hi. Here is our latest update from Tu EMUZ. We are now open again and welcoming visitors. We are pleased to have welcomed some return visitors. We have been closed for Jan to May with bushfires and then the pandemic. We have implemented strict Covid cleaning measures. During our closure, we have fully landscaped the property. We have doubled our rainwater catchment to drought-proof the property and for our wildlife, as we are off-mains. We have extended and planted new lawns ...and installed an irrigation system. 300 new trees and shrubs have been planted. We are excited we have 2 extra penguin nests on the property this season, likely chicks born and reared here. We now have 5 nests. The penguins will soon be mating, and chicks are usually fully grown about January. We are frequently visited by our echidna, koala, sea eagle and kangaroos. Just last month 2 sea eagles were engaging in daily aerial combat with 3 wedgetails. The weather this last week has been amazing. 5deg warmer than Adelaide's morning frosts. The days have been warm, calm and sunny. The island has had an excellent season. Wheat and canola crops are up. It is great to see the Lavender Farm re-opened for brunch, lunch and coffee, following there extensive renovations. Our new number for direct discounts is 0428000690. 07.01.2022 Tu EMUZ is celebrating its re-opening this week under its new owners Eric and Jan. Tu EMUZ is fully booked for the next 3 weeks until 13th January. We are pleased to advise that the Kangaroo Is bushfires did not affect Tu EMUZ, Emu Bay or any of the attractions of Kangaroo Is. Our sympathies go to those who lost property and livestock.
