25.01.2022 Are you storm ready? Our ACTSES volunteers work hard to help the Canberra community before, during and after major weather and storm events. You can help them b...y ensuring your household is storm ready. Secure or remove items that could blow around in strong winds, make permanent repairs to previous storm damage and prepare an emergency plan and emergency kit. 25.01.2022 Tonight we say goodbye to one of our Tuggeranong SES volunteers of 8 years Scott Rowell. Thanks for the service, leadership and most of all, your friendship. Thanks Scott!

24.01.2022 Six personnel from the ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) and ACT Policing have received the 2020 ACT Community Protection Medal (CPM). Established in 2002, t...he award formally recognises that these people have gone above and beyond in their chosen fields, and acknowledges sustained, distinguished and outstanding dedication making the ACT a better place to live. Following an incredibly tough bushfire season, this year we also see a number of commendation awards presented as part of the virtual CPM event, including each ACT Rural Fire Service brigade, ACT Parks and Conservation Service and more individuals from across ESA HQ! We are so lucky to have all of you making such a difference in the ACT! Congratulations. 23.01.2022 What a great collaborative job. Tree was out of reach for our team of SES Volunteers yesterday so the big guns were called in. The Bronto made it so much easier all under the watch of DTL Amy Lambert. Well done to all

22.01.2022 Have you cleaned your gutters since autumn? Many of our requests for assistance are caused by blocked gutters overflowing into roof spaces. Take the time now to prepare and save yourself a lot of hassle later on!

21.01.2022 Be careful out there and give our volunteers a wave and smile if you see them out over the next couple of days.

19.01.2022 Big day for our emergency services with storms across the ACT. Thanks to all the staff and volunteers. The ACT State Emergency Service, ACT Fire & Rescue and Tr...ansport Canberra and City Services have responded to 60 calls for help from the community. Call 132 500 if you need help during storms or floods and in a life-threatening emergency always call Triple Zero (000).

17.01.2022 Another good night at training with the crew from Tuggeranong SES putting into practice with Z Rigs thanks to Stan. Even recruited a new mascot

17.01.2022 The missing 14-year-old girl we posted about on Sunday and again today, has been found safe and well. Thanks for all the shares.

15.01.2022 Time to get prepared for storm season!

13.01.2022 Damaging winds impacting ACT The ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES), ACT Fire & Rescue (ACTF&R) and Transport Canberra and City Services (TCCS) have responde...d to 60 calls for help from the community following today's storm activity. Most calls for help have been related to damage caused by strong winds including fallen trees and flying debris. Strong winds are expected to continue until tomorrow and the ACTSES advises the Canberra community to be mindful of their surroundings, not to stand or park their vehicles under trees and to stay away from fallen power lines. Call 132 500 if you need help during storms or floods. In a life-threatening emergency, always call Triple Zero (000).

13.01.2022 A great night at training tonight. The new training roof is a great asset to have, hopefully we can get the recruits on it in the near future. Thanks to Adam for his time in training us in the use of new Harris radios.

12.01.2022 Last night several Tuggeranong SES Volunteers received the NSW Premier’s Bushfire Emergency Citation. We are proud to serve, proud to be part of the Community and most importantly proud if each other This post is not about me, I’m just showing my Award as an example as to what our members received. Proud to be part of the Orange Family !

12.01.2022 Over the weekend we saw more than 30 fresh faces join ACT State Emergency Service! This is the first cohort of field recruits to become part of the service ...in 2020. From now until late September, they will learn a whole suite of skills relating to storm and water damage to prepare them for the upcoming storm and bushfire seasons A group of 13 recruits will start in August, and another 28 are set to complete a short Field Course in October. Welcome to the team! #ACTSES

11.01.2022 Last job of the night was a collaboration of units working well together. Rivers 62 had chain saw operators so we assisted with the removal af a dangerous and split tree. Great team work and ended up a fairly quick job at the end of a long day!!

11.01.2022 The winter chill's still in the air across the Capital, but today Emergency Services delivered a stark warning: the storm season is here. The SES says it's crucial to urgently prepare homes and properties, for what's expected to be a turbulent, rain-soaked Spring.

10.01.2022 The missing 15-year-old girl we posted about earlier today has been located. Thanks for all the shares.

08.01.2022 This is why you shouldn't drive through floodwaters. You can't assume the road is still there underneath all that murky water. If it's flooded, forget it! Araluen Creek on Neringla Road.

08.01.2022 Seems like another day, another storm, another destructive wind! Tree down on a house with very little roof damage but a tricky removal.

07.01.2022 A great start to Thank a First Responder Day. Thank you to our Minister for Police and Emergency Services Mick Gentlemen and FORTEM Australia for a fantastic start to the day:) Helping Keep the ACT Safe Fortem Australia Mick Gentleman MLA #actesa

07.01.2022 Over the weekend Mel from Tuggeranong SES with volunteers from other SES units and RFS volunteers had a blast learning the correct way to drive a 4wd in some very tricky situations. From what I’ve heard they all had a great couple of days and not to mention the obligatory retrieval of a bogged vehicle.

05.01.2022 Another great night at training. Outside with our family, throwing the bags, knots and just having a good night!

05.01.2022 Did you know every ACT State Emergency Service (ACTSES) crew has a designated team leader? 14 ACTSES members participated in a Team Leader program recently. The... intensive course covers the foundations of leadership and explores a number of different management styles, to lead teams in the field. These members will go on to lead crews over the storm and fire seasons. #ACTSES

05.01.2022 Very interesting inter-agency job tonight. NSW Fire requested assistance to remove a large tree from a main thoroughfare. One hour of travelling on some very muddy mountain roads to find a large rotten tree had fallen across the track and blocking a motorist. After some fancy chainsaw work the trapped driver was on his way and so we’re we on the one hour return to Tuggeranong SES Unit.

04.01.2022 Don’t risk it.

04.01.2022 The missing 41-year-old man we posted about earlier this evening has been found safe and well. Thanks for all your shares.

02.01.2022 What a great training evening tonight was. Five chainsaw operators, heaps of pine trees that needed tidying up. Thanks to Tammy, Lisa The GoddessMick, Adam The Frog Jason, Mitch and Steve. The training was great, the mate-ship is a strong as ever and a few laughs too
